Kabanata 24
Breath-taking
I was greeted with bouquets of white baby's breath when I set my foot on the top of Mt. Pulag.
I made it.
Bumuhos ang luha ko. It was so hard for me to reach the top of this mountain. I almost lost control of my body but here I am. I am at the summit and I am seeing the countless stars above us.
"Can I have this dance?"
I swiveled my body towards the direction where the voice was coming from. And there, I saw Ephraim, holding a stem of white baby's breath in his left hand. Nakalahad iyon na tila inaabot sa akin. Pinalilibutan kaming dalawa ng ilan pang puting baby's breath na nakapatong sa lupa.
A familiar music played and I was taken back to our junior prom. I was teary-eyed when I accepted the flowers in his hand. We began swaying with the beat and my two friends were dancing along with us.
Take my hand, take a breath
Pull me close and take one step
Keep your eyes locked to mine
And let the music be your guideWon't you promise me (now won't you promise me, that you'll never forget)
We'll keep dancing (to keep dancing) wherever we go nextHindi ako makatingin sa kanya dahil sa lakas ng pintig ng puso ko. I can even feel the droplets of sweat on my forehead! Baka malusaw ako kapag nagtama ang paningin namin.
Everything was perfect. It was too good to be true. The beautiful melody, the countless cosmos above, the bouquets of baby's breath around, and the clouds surrounding the mountain.
Tumingala ako at ibinalik ang tingin sa langit. Sumilay ang ngiti sa labi ko habang pinagmamasdan ang kumikislap na mga bituin.
"Aren't they pretty?" I asked, pertaining to the night sky.
It's like catching lightning the chances of finding someone like you
It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do
And with every step together, we just keep on getting better
So can I have this dance (can I have this dance)
Can I have this dance
