Find Someone You Can Build With Not Just Chill With
"What do you want?" Asked Riker in an amused voice. He finally looked away from his work to give me the attention I had been aiming for from the start. I had glanced at the paper a few seconds ago and seen that they were shipment details. Details that Davis would probably kill to get ahold of right now.
"What makes you think I want anything?" Innocently I sat on his lap making him wrap his arms around my waist. Being this close to him you wouldn't think that just a mere hour ago he was pissed off. When I first got to The Anarchy he was shouting at some poor soul about some deal.
Riker gesture to my position on his lap like it was common sense. "Princess, I know you well enough to know that when you're kissing ass like this you want something. So come on what is it?"
"I have this dinner with Ashley and her parents. There is meant to be a deal between our two of our companies, it was something my father had set up before he left but-"
"You don't want it to go through." Riker cut me off finishing my sentence. A frown was starting to cover his features and I could see he was starting to piece the puzzle together. "I can't help you with that one Lyra. You know I won't get you involved in my business and joining any part of your company to mine will bring the wrong attention."
I rolled my eyes at his conclusion. I already knew to well what his biggest fear was and reality I believed it was the best way to make this work as well. I don't but into his work life and he doesn't but into mine. This was probably the only way this would work between the two of us.
"That wasn't what I was going to say. Jessica as a really good idea with what to do with that area in the East side of the city but I need a partner. I can't let Ashley's family get their claws into it because we both know that area will be run into the ground quicker than you can blink. Think those people down there have had a tuff life as it is. They don't need to be run out of there homes for the likes of shopping malls that they can't even afford to breath in. They need something to help them grow and in turn help the City grow. I don't know what dad was thinking when he almost let the deal go through."
"So what do you want?" Riker was curious on where I was going with this.
"I want you to be a benefactor for Jessica." I felt Riker shift uncomfortably knowing that was a lot of money I was asking. "Think about it Jessica looked after everything while you were gone because let's admit I love you brother Ace but he's not the smartest when it comes to this stuff. It was all her when you and your dad were gone and if you ask me she did a great job. I even offered to come back and help a few times when I thought it was getting to much but she sorted it all on her own. I think the least you can do for her is let her start up her own thing. Let her give her kids the life she wants to provide them so she doesn't always have to count on her little brother."
There was a few moments of silence between us as he seemed to be deep in thought. His cloud grey studying me trying to work out every pro and con to this move.
"I don't need the details of the idea but is it legit? Or is my older sister planning on dragging you into something?"
"It's legit, don't worry I'm not going to take your crown in the underworld." I remarked rolling my eyes once more making sure he clearly seen it. A small grin crossed his lips as he took in my childishness.
"OK I'll talk to my sister later about it but I want you to do something for me and considering you're basically asking me for millions you owe me."
Nodding I agreed not even knowing what it was. Me and Riker were always doing things for each other. I didn't even need to think about helping him out it just came naturally at this point. We might not be getting the two empires involved with each other but that didn't mean we couldn't help each other in other ways.
