Everything Doesn't Need To Be Talked About.
"You sure you want to do this?"
Everything was set up on the laptop in front of Zoe and she was looking at me trying to make sure this was what I wanted to do. Looking at the details on the laptop I didn't really have a clue what I was looking at. To me it looked like a different language but to Zoe it was almost like second nature to understand.
There wasn't one second throughout the day where I didn't think just how amazing she actually was at what she does. It was always so clear why Riker and the others relied on her so much. Without her none of us would be anywhere near as dangerous as we are.
"You all need to stop asking me this. I've never been more sure of anything in my life. This is how we are going to get Nisha back to New York so this is what we are going to do."
"Ok, ok." Spoke Zoe in defense with a grin on her pretty face. "Just want to make sure you know what type of shit you're more than likely going to drag yourself into with this one."
"Trust me I've lived my whole life in the spotlight because of my parents. Dragging my own name into something isn't something I'm to bothered about. At least this time the information they've got about me is true."
There was so many news articles about me and my family, I had long since lost track of what they actually knew and what was all just made up stories. Of course we had people looking out for anything that could be remotely damaging but the thing was my family didn't really care in the end what was said about us.
A long time ago my dad had learnt that if you normally just rolled your eyes and ignored the shit they came out with they would lose interest pretty quickly. As long as you didn't bite they had no power over you.
That just made them dig deeper and this was something they were going to eat up. My reacting your giving them all the power to control the situation.
Zoe gave me one last look before turning her attention back to her laptop. She started typing away at the keyboard and I watched in amazement as she worked away. I needed to make sure Riker was giving her the top end pay because she more that deserved what the rest of us got all together.
"That's us." Spoke up Zoe after a few moments of silence other than her clicking away at her laptop. She closed it over slowly almost like it was a ticking time bomb and maybe it was. We had just removed the clip from our own bomb and now we were waiting for it to go off. "How long do you think before Holly finds the information?"
Holly, a woman that I had grown to dislike over the years but now she was another one in my game. Even I was starting to think how easy the power came to me of using others without them knowing. There was a thin line between good and bad and right now I was walking on a tightrope between the two. One wrong step and I could end up right where Nisha is now.
Someone I feared to become.
"Judging by the fact that she is one of the best reporters in the City, not that long. I'm counting on that fact because I need this to move quickly. So quick that Nisha can't keep up and her head keeps spinning."
"Oh her head will more than spin." Zoe lifted the coffee that was sitting in front of her. We were currently in a small café at ten o'clock at night. There was only two other people and they were to busy in their own world to even notice we were there. "You just struck a match Lyra, now we are waiting for you to burn everything to ground."
Resting my chin on the palm of my hand I looked at Zoe thoughtfully. There was another piece to this game that I needed to set into place. A way to control Holly and my brother Chase had given me that answer over Christmas.
