Fall In Love With Someone Who Is Both Your Safe Place And Your Adventure.
"You're a major pain in my ass I hope you know that."
Looking out the passenger side window I couldn't help but let a grin cross my face at Riker's words. He was still going on about the fact that I had let Matt walk right out of the City without repercussions.
"Please you wouldn't have my annoying ass any other way." Giving him a pointed look I was able to see is lips turn upwards. He was amused, if I was anyone else I probably would've gotten cornered by him for my stunt. He trusted me though, he knew I'd have a plan for my actions.
"Speaking of annoying, how's Damon? I haven't been able to see him for the last few days with being out of the City."
Turning to him I put on my best fake offended look. In reality I was anything but that but I had seen him in a few days and I just wanted to be annoying.
I woke up in the mood to torture him. It was fun, well for me maybe not so much for him.
"Hello, did you forget I'm your girlfriend? Or is your bromance with my brother more important." Crossing my arms over my chest I pouted like a child. "I always knew he was number one."
Riker let out a chuckle and at a red light he leaned over a gave me a peck on the lips. "Your only number one in your head. I have a list of people that are ahead of you. Maybe your number ten at best."
"Ten." An unbelieving look was on my face as I glanced at the road we were driving down. It was the road I had almost been burnt to death in my car.
"Maybe nine if we are pushing it." He acted thoughtful as he tried to through my own game against me.
"Please I will except nothing lower than five. I'll at least let you put Ace, Jessica,Kai and Evie ahead of me. They're your family after all, though I want to be ahead of your dad just saying." My voice had trailed off as my mind went to other places. I was remembering a lot from that night and there was something to this day I still couldn't believe.
Riker seemed to have clicked on about why I seemed so distant all of sudden. His hand tightened on the steering wheel, though he didn't seem to notice but I did. I always noticed everything about him.
"You still haven't told us how you got away from those guys after you got out of your burning car." His voice was low and carefully as he spoke. I told him before I didn't want to talk about it but it wasn't because of what people thought. For my brothers sake it was probably safer if I didn't. He never asked me not to say but I knew that it was something he wouldn't want out.
I trusted Riker though.
"Chase."
"Chase?" Riker glanced at me from the corner of his eye as the light turned green again. "What has your brother got to do with the situation."
Out of all my brothers Chase was probably the one that Riker seen the least off. Well that wasn't hard seeing as the rest of us didn't see him very much either.
Growing up I always assumed that it was because he working in the Navy Seals but after that night I found out it was just a cover up. My brother was in something for more lethal than that.
"Chase showed up. Well when I say showed up he was apparently on the hunt for some guy. A sniper, the same sniper that was shooting at me at the start of the night. That's why those bullets never came, the ones I was expecting after I got out of the car. He had taken the guy down after the first few. Chase thought the guy was waiting for him but he was wrong and when he seen what he was shooting at he apparently freaked." I let out a laugh but there was no humour. "It's not everyday you see a sniper shooting at your baby sister."
