Find Comfort In The Chaos

"I swear to fucking God they better have answers and soon." Hayden was pacing the waiting room once again and frankly he was starting to make me dizzy.

We were all tired and irritated. Alex had been dealing with the doctors this whole time and apparently they were still running tests on Damon. We had been here for hours at this point and it was now three in the morning.

"Yea because getting pissed at the doctors is really going to help right now." I snapped having enough of listening to the same thing over and over again.

"I just don't understand how he crashed that car." Hayden stood in front of me. "He's not you but I've never seen Damon make a major mistake in a car never mind one that's almost killed him."

"Don't." I warned not liking that word. My brother wasn't going to die, he couldn't. "Riker went to look at the remains of the car. Archer is there with him and Zoe."

I also knew Riker was using it to stay away from the hospital. The second he seen Hayden he took it as an excuse to leave. Hayden and Chase weren't the biggest fans of mine and Riker's relationship. Riker wasn't scared of them in any shape but I think out of respect he took himself out of the situation to keep the peace. It probably one of the few time's I've seen Riker handle a situation without violence.

Though I was pretty sure Hayden and Chase would love to throw a fist in his face. They were just waiting for the wrong move from him.

"Why is that dickhead here?"

"That dickhead helped get your girlfriend and son back. It would good of you to remember that." This time I didn't hide my annoyance.

"He's the reason Damon is even involved with that shit." He hissed back. I knew Hayden meant well and he was just tired but so was I and I wasn't in the mood for this shit.

"Damon chose to be in that life all by himself. No one held a gun to his head and made him do it. Damon was always out to cause trouble more than the rest of us, frankly he was either going to go with Zane or Riker or do something worse. Honestly I'd rather him be with one of them than dead because we both know that would've happened."

"And look at us now." Hayden held his arm wide pointing around him. "We are in hospital and he was almost killed."

"He was in a car crash. That has nothing to do with what he chooses to do with his life. You can spend your whole life being some Saint and end up dead before your eighteen. So if he wants to live his life doing what ever the fuck it is he does with Riker then so be it. I'd rather he be happy with his life than fucking doing what it is you and everyone else set out for him. You did what you wanted, so let him do what he wants. You don't need to like it you just have to be there for him. To be his brother."

Our voices were getting louder and I could see the doctors and nurses glancing into the room. We were one more yelling match away from being told to leave I could sense it.

"You're one to talk."

This time I stood up and faced my brother head on. He towered over me but I didn't care. Hayden had always been bigger than me but I was taught to take no crap.

"What the hell does that mean?"

"You two used to be so fucking close now look at you. It takes him to be in a car crash for you to come running back. Do you really think our brother cared about that whole Sky situation? Yea he was annoyed at first but it was you he was more pissed at."

"I know because he thinks she left because of me."

Hayden scoffed. "No, he's pissed because you left. We all were. Three years you were gone for Lyra. Like it was fucking easier to see Riker than you at least we knew were he was. You legit just left one day and didn't even tell us where you were staying. Dad just told us you needed to focus but do you have any idea what that did to him?"
