A Weak Man Can't Love A Strong Woman. He Won't Know What To Do With Her.
Some things were meant to be kept just between the two of us. That weekend away was one of them. Honestly Riker had completely outdone himself and let me have a insight to what his mom was like. It was clear the woman had, had a major impact on his life before and after her death.
He brought me to a cabin the middle of no where. He didn't say where we were or even how far away we were from anything else. We where surrounded my mountains covered in snow. Riker had told me his father had bought the place for his mom when they had gotten married. His mom had loved the cold and I guess I could relate to her on that one.
Don't get me wrong I loved the warm weather and how it felt on you skin after a long winter. There was just something about the cold that made you feel more alive. With every visible breath you took it was a reminder that you were still breathing and that no matter what happened in your life every day was different.
We had spent the whole weekend sitting in front of the fire and snowboarding around the mountains. I don't think I had ever been so relaxed or at ease. It was like we had completely forgotten what was the reality waiting for us back home.
The reality was something I didn't dread though. As much as I loved the calmness, it wasn't something I could have forever in my life. For some people that was their dream to have a relaxing life but I needed more than that. I needed the feel of a rush, of pushing myself to near breaking point. I needed to be able to think and work things out, I was forever wanting to learn about everything and anything.
Though I would definitely be back if Riker let me. When ever we needed a moment to ourselves I could see the cabin being the get away. Riker really didn't understand how much that trip meant to me and to trust me with such a thing.
From being there in a cabin with Riker away from the world to where I was right now was like two different sides to a coin. I was in a closed off room in one of the most secure prisons in the world. How Riker had managed to get me in here without a bat of eye from the guards was something I would never understand. It was something I was pretty sure I couldn't pull off.
They sure were making deep connections in the system. This was far more than some of the cops in the City being on my dads payroll.
The door to the room opened reveling a smug looking Xavier. He was looking well for a man who was locked away for life. Xavier had clearly been using his free time to his advantage as his muscles were more defined and cheekbones more prompt. Sometimes I forgot how much him and Riker looked alike. There was something around the eyes that was always different and form seeing pictures of Riker's mom it was more clear on where they had come. Everything else though was just like his father.
I wasn't complaining Riker had good genes.
"If it isn't my youngest sons little girlfriend." He kept his eyes on me as the guard took of the handcuffs. l kept my gaze firm as he watched me. "No, that's a bit disrespectful for someone of your status. Isn't it Lyra Anderson?"
He was testing me. He was always testing me when we came face to face with no one else around. The guard had walked out of the room as soon the cuffs had come off Xavier who was currently rubbing his wrists trying to get the feeling back. There was something off in the movement though.
"I hear you've been busy." I said cutting to the chase.
"The same way I hear you've been busy." His tone was light as he sat down in the chair across from me.
"Don't know what you're talking about?" I wanted to know what he knew and if starting on me was what he wanted to do then do be it. Dealing with him was on a completely different level of dealing with Matt. Xavier was a challenge and I loved challenges.
