When A Brother And Sister Stand Side By Side Who In This World Can Actually Stop Them?
"Ace."
Never in my life had I ever been so happy to see Riker's older brother. His dark eyes glinted when they landed on the men who were running behind us. I didn't know how he was here but I was just happy that he was. It evens out the playing field a bit.
"Took you fucking long enough to get here." Damon panted out as he tried to still catch his breath. My brother had clearly became unfit after spending so much time in the hospital.
"You texted him?" I asked wondering when my brother even had a chance to do it. It must have been when we were still in the car.
"Yea, well I texted Riker but I'm guessing he's busy at the moment."
"And so was I, but my dear little brother was threatening to cut off my balls if I didn't go rescue his girlfriend here." Ace never took his eyes off the men when they stopped dead in front of us. There was always a carefree tone in Ace's voice even when he was faced with something.
"It wasn't me who needed help. If anything Damon was the one that was about to get his ass handed to him." Sending my brother a pointed look I went on. "Maybe if learnt to stop pissing people off."
"Me? What the fuck about you? Have you met you? All you do is piss people off."
"Well I must have learnt it from somewhere."
"Well it's clearly wasn't me, I'm like ten minutes older than!"
"Still older." I scoffed out not one bit bothered about our situation.
"Never have I met such annoying siblings until I came across the two of you." Commented Ace as he rolled his eyes at us. His eyes locked once more on the men almost in front of us. "How about you work out who's to blame for Lyra's annoying personality later and deal with what is in front first."
Ace was a lot more carefree than Riker but in moments like this they two of them really did seem like brothers. How he spoke about me and Damon was one of the things Riker was a famous for as well.
"You." Snapped out one of the men in between breaths. He was soaked right through from the rain and there was hatred in his eyes pointed directly at me. "You're coming with us."
He was less than five foot in front of me now and was reaching out, my eyes narrowed dangerously. If he thought he could just reach out and grab me he had another thing coming.
Grabbing my arm he yanked hard and I let him for a moment. As soon as I stood where I wanted him I tensed my arm slamming my elbow right into the side of his jaw. Putting my other hand behind his head I shoved him hard behind me and we all watched as he crashed through the large glass window of the building.
The sound of the thundering rain hit my ears making it clear that the weather wasn't going to let up anytime soon.
Ace let out a laugh but his own men looked shocked. They clearly followed Ace more than Riker because Riker's men knew what I was like by now. Even then I was sure they had heard the rumours. Then again rumours were just rumours until you experienced something for yourself.
"Shit."
My brothers voice snapped me back to the men in front as they started to make their move.
Ace grabbed my hand yanking me over to him. I was about to complain that I didn't need his help but his voice quickly cut off my thoughts.
"You need to stall." Looking at him in surprise I noticed that a man was heading straight from us. Ace though spun me out of the way and dealt with the man in an easy blow.
