Day Eleven

Days go by quickly.
Blink and we just might miss something.
Reminds me of the quote I used yesterday.
How?
Well if we spend the time trying to figure out what people what from us or want to hear from us, then we will end up missing what we could have actually wanted to say.
We should just figure out what we want to say.
After figuring that out, we should just say it.
Despite what we some of us think, what we say is equally as important as what other people say.
We can spend our lives trying to please everyone else, but it doesn't really do us any good.
The big question will arise.
Are we happy? Are we truly happy?
I, for one, can't lie I have spent almost all my life trying to please my parents.
Even when I knew it wouldn't matter. They still won't see me.
It is because I want that I'm proud of you.
Not the 'that grade should be an A'.
I did decide that I am going to get good grades for me, not for my parents.
It still would be nice to hear that they are proud of me.
Back to the point, I have spent a lot time trying to please them and realized I wasn't happy.
I wasn't happy with the results I was getting.
I then wrote down what made me happy.
Getting good grades did make me happy, so I should get them for me because I want it.
I want to be a teacher, so I should go for it. Once again I should go for it because I want it.
Writing makes me happy. Therefore I should write.
Do what makes you happy.
Don't do what makes others happy.
If you do what makes you happy, it won't make life easier.
Life is never easy, but doing what makes you happy will make it more enjoyable.
I learned that I am my own person. I can make my own decisions. I can do what I want. I choose the path I want to take. I can't listen to other people opposing what I've decided. I need to just listen to what I need and want.
It sounds a bit selfish, but it isn't selfish.
It is my life and I should be able to do what makes me happy.
It isn't a selfish act when you are the one living this one life that is given to you.
The only choices you have with a life is to either live or die.
Considering that I do want to live my life, than I should do want I want to make me happy.
Not selfish at all.
Right?
Make sense?
Going back to the only choices of life.
No they aren't the only choices.
They are the two main ones.
You choose to live and of course you have a lot of choices to make.
Life gives you different choices.
There is a song by Avenged Sevenfold called Crossroads. It talks about choosing a road to take in life.
Here is the chorus:

"If I was perfect then this would be easy
Either road is plausible on both I could drown
I walk through the center with no rules to guide me
I realize it's difficult but now I can see"
-Crossroads by Avenged Sevenfold
I feel that it speaks the truth.
No matter what path we choose to go in life, we will be ridiculed in some way.
Also there are no just two paths you can take. There are lots of paths.
The most important path you can take is one you make because that path is one you made to suit you. You create this path.
The path you make for yourself though will be difficult, but it opens your eyes.
You see even if those other paths seem easier, they are all the same. Filled with ridicule and judgment.
Yes creating your own path will have the same ridicule and judgment.
There is a difference between the paths given and creating your own path.
The difference is creating your own path shows you to be yourself. Be happy. Don't follow anyone else. Make your own destiny. Make your own fate.
Life is full of obstacles to put in your path. It is your job to overcome them. To face them head on.
Don't let life get you down, just because obstacles are in your way.
Creating our own path reminds us that each one of us different.
Each person in this world is different.
We all have different paths we take.
Sometimes they connect with each other.
Sometimes they don't.
People are people.
No one is the same.
No one is perfect.
No one is normal.
We are who we are.
If we want to change, we will change.
We make decisions for ourselves.
Enough of that before I start repeating myself.
Next quote:
"One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple."
-Jack Kerouac, The Dharma Bums
