Pulling up to Tony's lake home, Avery and Marshmallow were the first toes eagerly jump out.

Almost immediately, the teen met with Morgan, her young five-year-old cousin. "Morg!" She ran up, grabbing her and swinging her around. The young girl giggled.

"I missed you!" She said, hugging her back. Steve and I were unloading the back of the car when Tony and Pepper came out.

Once all of the bags were placed out of the car, I looked up and saw Tony looking at me, smiling. I smiled back, running up to him to hug him "Hiya kid." He smiled, hugging me back. "How've you been?"

"Great." You smiled, "How about you?"

"Incredible." He smiled, "How's Capsicle been treating you?" He mocked, I rolled my eyes in response.

"He's a true gentleman, as always."

"I would expect nothing less."

Steve came up to us, giving Pepper a kiss on the cheek and moving to my brother. "Tony." He lightly smiled.

"Steve." He said back, the two shaking hands, going into a bro hug of sorts. The two girls were already inside the house, Morgan presumably showing Avery something like a new tony or trick. Marshmallow had also wandered his way in.

Tony and Steve got all the bags, Pepper and I had already settled in the kitchen, her opening a bottle of wine. "So, how's life been?"

"It's been steady," You admitted, her eyes glancing between you sitting on the other end of the kitchen island and the red liquid pouring into glasses. "Nothing has changed much, which I suppose is a new victory." She nodded.

"How's Steve?"

"Doing pretty well," You lightly smiled, "He's been doing some more therapy work. I think he still feels so bad about the whole incident." She nodded.

"Tony pretends like he doesn't, but secretly I know deep down somewhere it eats at him every day." You took your glass, sipping it, and nodding. If there was one thing you knew about your brother, it was that he took everything mistake he made much harder on himself. "What about Avery?"

"Oh she's doing fine," You two could hear the girls in the other room, Avery on her phone checking something while she and Morgan played. Despite the age gap, they always enjoyed their time together. And your little girl was wonderful with small children as you and Steve had learned. "Schools going great for her, she and her friends are doing good." Pepper nodded. "And Morgan?"

"She's doing great too." Pepper smiled, "She loves kindergarten, and loves tinkering with things. Has an extremely curious mind, just like her father." You smiled too.

"You couldn't even wait for us?" Tony walked in, scoffing at you two already indulging in your drinks.

"You're a big baby." Pepper fired back. Steve walked up to you and smiled, sitting next to you.

"And how're you, Steve?" Pepper lightly smiled, grabbing two more glasses.

"I'm doing fine," He said back, "How about you?"

"Better than ever." She smiled even brighter, "Thank you two for making the drive up here, I know it's a few hours."

"Of course," You smiled, "We love coming up here."

"Speaking of," Tony spoke, "You two should move closer." He put on a cocky smile. You rolled your eyes. Tony had been pushing for you two to move the longest time, closer to him and Pepper. You knew it was the protective side of him, but you and Steve still wanted your own freedom.

"I don't know Tony," You admitted, Steve, staying silent. "We really love Brooklyn, ya know? And so does Avery. Plus she's in school, has friends, and a life."

"So?" He asked, "She's an incredibly sociable kid, they have a great private school, one of the best in the state actually, literally twenty minutes away. And need I remind you," He looked out the back window, "There's a lake."

"I still don't know if we want to take her out of, ya know, her element." You pondered.

"As I said, she's a sociable kid. She'd make lots of friends like she has now."

"Tony, she's going to be a junior in high school next year." You stated, "She has two years left, once she's off to college then maybe we'll consider moving here. Just Steve and I." He nodded.

"Fine, that's fair." The conversation drifted elsewhere due to Pepper thankfully stepping in and taking over. We drank some more before I helped Pepper prepare dinner, Tony and Steve busy playing with the girls. Or more like Tony, Steve, and Avery playing with Pepper.

Just as we had called all of them in and set the table, I heard Steve and Avery have one of their small conversations. "Stop dad!" She said, huffing. "You're so annoying." He chuckled, looking back to me where I rose an eyebrow.

"She hated me calling her pumpkin." He smirked.

"How many times do I have to tell you?" She rolled her eyes. We sat down and began eating, all indulging in casual food.

The conversation was passed along throughout dinner, ranging from politics to whatever teens were doing nowadays. You spent quite a bit of time eating actually, Tony and Steve actually speaking peacefully to one another a few times. After the meal wrapped up, the guys and the kids agreed to clean up and do the dishes, as you and pepper sat out on the back patio and talked. "Hello, lovely." You heard Steve behind you, giving you a kiss on the head.

"Hey." You smiled as he came up next to where you sat.

"Avery and I are gonna take a walk. Wanna join us?" You shook your head.

"You two deserve some father-daughter time." He lightly smiled. The two of them went off next to each other roaming on the edge of the lake, talking you could tell.

"He's a great dad." Pepper spoke up, "When I first met Steve all those years ago he was so lost and confused. He seemed so anxious and scared of the future, not sure what to do. Not that I blame him. But you and her," She smiled, "You guys really managed to give him a meaning and a purpose other than being Captain America." You smiled at her kind words.

"I remember how timid he was," You recalled, "He was always so nervous, not confident. I'm just glad he's okay now. The real Steve, ya know?" She nodded.

"He seems so happy." She grinned. The two of you looked over to see the two of them sitting on the edge of the lake, shoes off and feet in the water. Avery's head was resting on his shoulder as the two looked out over the water.

"I don't think we could've gotten anyone better." You admitted, "He's just so perfect for us."
