Chapter 36: Over The Boundary

Shelia's POV

Nasaan na ba sila?

The clinking sound of every wine glasses coincided with the disco music of the place. I looked at my hand as the scarlet color of the LED lights enveloped it along with the whole of the kitchen. Nilagok ko ang wine na aking hawak hawak at saka tiningnan muli ang paligid.

A dazzling disco ball hanged itself in the centre of the kitchen, adding a touch of glittery and silver color to the scarlet place. It's a mess in here, confettis are everywhere and confused tissue papers hanged like it was a bandana. But I have to admit the fact that this is oddly, a beautiful mess.

Oh! And also, I think almost everyone that I know is in here. A smile immediately formed on my lips when a familiar group of friends entered the place. Kararating lang nila Ben at agad kong napansin na kulang sila ng isa. Napawi kaagad ang ngiti ko. I wonder where he is...

"Ah... There they are!" Isaac boomed when he saw them.

Agad na kumawala ang ngiti ng tatlo at nakipag kamayan sila sa mga taong nandito. Then, they sat at the high chairs beside the counter, just near me.

"Hey!" masiglang bungad ko kay Ben.

Ngumisi siya sa akin. "Nandito ka na pala. Kanina pa kayo?" sagot niya.

I nodded.

"I was wondering-"

"Nasa taas siya, kasama si Adrian," pamumutol niya sa akin.

Wait. Am I too obvious?

Umiling-iling ako at saka inalok siya na uminom ng wine. "I'm not looking for Cris, Ben. I was wondering why you're late," palusot ko sabay salin ng wine sa baso at binigay sa kanya.

Tinanggap niya iyon at agad na ininom. He was blank for a second the he looked away but when he licked his lips, he turned back to me. Umiiling-iling na rin siya habang ngumingisi.

I think I'm still too obvious...

"I-I'm telling the truth..." bakas ang kahihiyan sa sinabi ko.

He chuckled. "Oo na, Lia. Maniniwala nalang ako."

"Hey!" Sinuntok ko siya sa braso. "Hindi ako nag sisinungaling!"

He chuckled again. "Ayan ka nanaman sa pasuntok suntok mo," reklamo niya.

"Lia! Come here!" Napunta ang atensiyon namin ni Ben kay Joseph.

He did a hand gesture that I think, it means that he wants me to go there.

Binalingan ko si Ben para magpaalam at agad naman siyang tumango. Ganoon din ang ginawa ko at saka tumayo na para puntahan si Joseph.

"Ah... Here's my favorite cousin," aniya sa oras na dumating na ako sa kanila.

He was with his group of friends. Nag-aagaw sa ilong ko ang amoy ng pabango nila sa amoy ng alak na kanilang iniinom. They're hot and handsome but reeking of alcohol this early and you're acting tough is a big turn-off for me. Pft. Talo ko pa kayo.

Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay. "Why did you call me?"

"They want to meet you, Lia." Lumapit siya sa tenga ko at nagpakilala kaagad ang mainit na hininga niya. "Turn them down..." he whispered.

Seriously?! This is what I came for? Psh. This will be easy then.

"Oh!" pag sabay ko sa plano niya. "Hello everyone." I waved my hand in front.

Some of them blushed so hard while the others shyly looked away. They already fell in our trap except for one guy. Surprisingly, his eyes are still darted at mine.
