"Every time I try to grasp for air I am smothered in despair. It's never over..."
-Christina Aguilera.

Two months had passed since Tristan revealed his true self. Now that Aliyah had been formally introduced to the abusive narcissist he truly was, the relationship started to spiral. Throughout the first month, he had become mentally and verbally abusive. No matter what she said, did, or how hard she tried everything made Tristan angry. Rolling into the second month the physical abuse began.

Victoria's ex-fiancé had come forward and revealed that she was in fact pregnant, but that he was the father. Instead of lashing out at his liar of a best friend, Tristan took his frustrations out on Aliyah. She was stunned by his lack of accountability. Growing tired of it all she attempted to stand up for herself. Her moment of bravery left her with a busted lip, bloody nose, and a black eye. Embarrassed by it all she didn't leave the house for weeks.

Aliyah always told herself that she would never allow anyone to treat her that way. It was so easy to assume and believe that she would never be in this sort of predicament. Her love for Tristan was so blinding that all the red flags went unnoticed. He was very skilled at making others believe he was such a great man.

He was cold and calculating. Whenever he felt physical abuse was necessary he was smart about it. Doing it in a way that could be covered by clothing or concealed with makeup. He was a fairly wealthy man so of course, they resided in a gated community. The area had an ample amount of space from neighbors. Enough to keep anyone from interfering or calling the cops whenever things got physical.

Sitting in front of the vanity, Aliyah had just done the last of her makeup when the devil himself entered the room.

"Aliyah! Where do you think you're going dressed like that? You're wearing too much makeup," he barked, staring her down with a disapproving look.

"I'm not even showing any skin and this makeup is necessary if you don't want anyone to question the bruises being concealed by it."

"Watch your tone. Please don't push me, baby. You don't want a repeat of last night do you?" Tristan asked in an icy and threatening manner.

"I'm not trying to make you angry. I didn't raise my voice. Just simply stated facts. I don't want to get into it with you Tris. I need to leave now or I'll be late for lunch with my sister."

Thinking it over for a moment Tristan gave her a nod of approval as she grabbed her things to head out the door. He still managed to ruin her afternoon with Maddison. Tristan demanded that she be home at a certain time. He had texted her while at the office and insisted that dinner be ready by the time he got home from work. Aliyah had to think quickly and find a way to cut quality time with her sister short. She knew for a fact that he was going to want some type of fancy dish. He was never a simple type of man. Even if it was something as small as dinner, it still needed to be top-notch. Thinking back to the day she had found that out the hard way, sent a chill down her spine.
