Chapter 47

Meghan's POV:

The next couple of weeks go by with little update about why I haven't been allowed to be called up for camp.

I have just been doing school work and going to a lot of practice with both the Royals and my team. I thankfully have had fewer panic attacks lately and none in front of my friends. It was embarrassing when it happened at the party. Everyone was super nice about it but still.

I also miss Emily so much. Not being able to look forward to a camp where I would see her is hard. She had been super good to me though. Always making sure I'm doing ok and not too disappointed about not going to the She Believes Cup. We facetime almost every night so that's nice.

The doorbell rings, bringing me out of my thoughts. Being the closest to the front door I open it to reveille Eliza.

"Oh. Hey Eliza!" I didn't realize she was coming over.

"Hi! Is Kelley here?"

"Ya! Come on in." I opened the door more to let her come in. I realize how she looks nervous and is dressed in a cute outfit. Then she pulls flowers out from behind her back and whispers to me.

"I want to ask Kelley to be my girlfriend."

"Oh!" I say a little too loud.

"Who is at the door?" I hear Kelley yell from upstairs.

"Ahh..." I look at Eliza to make sure she is ready. She nods. "It's actually for you Kel!"

I wink at Eliza and walk into the kitchen. I am out of sight but I can still hear them. I want to know what Kelley's reaction is going to be.

"What are you doing?" Becky scares the shit out of me. She just laughs as I wack her. I guess she snuck up behind me.

"Eliza is here," I whisper. Becky smiles and we both stand in the kitchen listening to their conversation.

"Eliza! Hi!"

"Hi, Kel."

"What are you doing here? I mean I'm happy to see you but I wasn't expecting you." Kelley's giggle can be heard.

"Well..." We hear a small gasp from Kelley. I assume Eliza just gave her the flowers.

"What are these for?"

"Well... Kelley, I want to make us official. I am falling in love with you. Will you be my girlfriend?"

"YES!" Kelley screams out.

Both Becky and I come out from around the corner at this point to see the two hugging. They are so cute together. I am so happy that Kelley has someone that makes her happy too.

They pull away from the hugging and kissing. Kelley looks at me.

"You knew!" she accuses me.

"Only once she got here with flowers." I laugh at her. "I'm so happy for you guys!" They move over to me and there is a big group hug. Or is it a family hug. I don't know. Kelley is obviously my family now but I still don't call her Mom. It just feels wrong.

Whatever you want to call it, I love it. I feel so safe and loved. If you told me this is where I would be back when I was living New Hampshire I would have told you you're insane.

"Hey, Meghan! Come here!" I hear Kelley yell from downstairs.

I make my way down and find her on the phone sitting at the kitchen counter. SHe motions for me to come to sit next to her and she puts the phone on speakerphone.
