Kelley's POV:

Gentle hands run across my shoulder pulling me out of my sleep.

"Kelley, We're here." I look over to see Emily, slightly confused at where we are but then everything comes back. It takes everything in my power not to start crying again. I'm so worried about Meghan. She has to be ok.

"Em, I'm sorry. I could have driven part of the way.'' I feel bad now realizing she drove the whole 7 hours while I just slept.

"No, it's ok. I didn't mind. Besides you needed the sleep." she says quietly as we pull into a parking space in the parking garage of the hospital. She's probably right. I have a feeling I'm not going to get a whole ton of sleep over the next few days.

As soon as the car stops moving both of us jump out of the car and start to make our way into the hospital desperate for an update. We make our way to a reception desk and a young woman looks up as we approach her.

"Hi. We are here for Meghan Hull."

"Hello. Are you family?" Hmm, how do I answer this? Technically no but we might as well be.

"Umm... I am her emergency contact. You guys called me last night."

"Oh ok..." she types something into her computer. "Ok if you can have a seat over in the waiting room her doctor will come and speak to you in a few minutes."

Uhh, I don't want to wait. I want to know if she is ok now. Apparently, Emily can sense my irritation and grabs my hand and practically drags me over to the small waiting area. We sit in silence for many minutes. I know it hasn't been that long but it feels like hours.

"Hello," a man not much older than me in scrubs approaches us. "You are here for Meghan Hull?" he asks.

"Yes. Is she ok?" I practically jumped up. Again Emily is the one to contain me. The doctor sat in the seat across from the two of us.

"Hi, I am Doctor Baker. I am Meghan's doctor. Do you know what happened to her?"

"No. I just got a call that she was here."

"Ok. So she was brought in last night around 9:30. She was in a pretty bad way. According to the police that arrived on the scene she had been beaten." My breath hitches. It was from Greg. Shit the poor thing. She was probably scared to death. I am not letting her go back. I don't care what happens, I'm not letting her go back. I guess he notices my mood change.

"I spoke with the police officers. They said her foster father has been apprehended and is being charged. I also know they are going to come back and question Meghan, but that all can be figured out later. She has sustained many injuries."

Before he can continue, tears start to fall down my face as Emily squeezes my hand.

"Is she ok?"

"She is in a coma ma'am." I break down. FUCK. No. She can't be.

"We are optimistic that she will wake up but I can't promise you anything," he says trying to reassure me but it doesn't work.

"What exactly are her injuries?" This is Emily. Apparently she is more coherent than I am. I try to listen to what he is saying but can't seem to. I'm too worried and scared.

"She just got out of brain surgery as she had a brain bleed. We were able to stop the bleeding but severe head trauma can cause people to go into comas. She had some internal bleeding in her abdomen but we were able to fix that during surgery as well. She also has several broken ribs which caused her to have a punctured lung. We fixed that by inserting a chest tube which can be taken out in a few days. She has a lot of other bruises and cuts. She can recover from all of these, we just need her to wake up."
