I had eventually learned everyone's names, but I still didn't know them.
I stepped into the house and ran into Carl.
"Uh...hi," I said scratching the back of my head a little. "I was going to set up the hoop today if you'd like to help."
"Sure," he said, "just a warning, I'm pretty good."
"I bet that," I said smirking and walking away. I heard him let out a small laugh then the door close.
"Hey Maggie, do you have any..uh," I started.
"Please don't ask what I think you're going to ask for," Maggie said a frown covering her face and her eyebrow furrowing.
"Ew, no f**king way man," I said stepping back. "I was going to ask you if you had any unwanted peach baskets."
"Yeah, I'll grab you one," Maggie said walking out of the kitchen.
"What she grabing you?" Daryl said form behind me, making me jump.
"A basket, please don't think anything else," I said muttering the last part.
"I don't want to know," He said sitting on the counter and running a hand through his hair.
Maggie walked in and handed me the basket. "Here you go, it's a little broken on the bottom, but it's still good." she said.
"Perfect, thanks," I said walking out of th kitchen.
I stepped out of the house and nudged Carl, who was leaning against the house waiting for me.
~Daryl's POV~
"Why'd she ask you for a basket?" I asked shifting my grip on my crossbow strap.
"I don't know. She's a teennager and your niece so I guess something with hunting," Maggie said leaning against the table.
"Daryl, Rick wants you to help him with something," Carol said coming in.
~April's POV~
"You sure this'll work?" Carl asked looking up at me while shielding his eyes from the sun.
"Gotta," I managed to mumble. I was hanging out of the window in the front of the barn trying to hook the basket on the nail.
"Got it!" I said loudly as I finally set the basket on the hook. I took a metal piece of some kind and bent the nail inward so that it would stay better.
"How you going to get down, smarty?" Carl called up to me.
"Uhh....can you help me?" I said looking around and placing my hands on the side of the barn.
Carl laughed and made his way up to me and grabbed my ankles. He pulled me in the barn and laughed at me.
"What's so funny?" I said looking at him with my elbows on the floor.
"Nothing really. Just having to drag your ass in the barn," He said putting his hand out to pull me up.
I took his hand without thinking and he pulled me up, but I pushed off my feet so I landed right into him, almost knocking him over. He was stronger than I expected.
We stared at eachother for a minute then we both backed away. I felt a spark of electricity when I took his hand and yet again when I knocked into him.
We didn't say anything as we headed down to play basketball.
Let's just say by the end I beat his sorry ass.
