Aiyana and Chris found themselves in Sky's apartment again. They seemed to practically live her on their couch. It had not taken Aiyana long to realize that despite their marriage and the baby on its way their relationship lacked everything.

Sky had changed drastically since he had realized he was going to be a father and would fuss about Sierra's health but there was nothing there. It seemed they did not want to spend time with each other without the company of other people and were currently using Chris and Aiyana as a way to fill the void between them.

They barely had a conversation that did not involve how Sierra's health and actions would affect the baby or the baby's future in general. Usually that should be enough for a couple to get along but it seemed not. As a husband Sky seemed indifferent and Sierra lacked affection. Whatever feelings she had portrayed initially for Sky had definitely died down.

They were currently watching a movie. Chris had rested his hands on her thigh, his thumb constantly drawing circles, pushing her onto the brink of madness. Ever since yesterday Aiyana found herself extremely hot and bothered in Chris' presence. Constantly thinking about his hands and other organs being inside of her. Stretching her. Arousing her.

The smell of cigarettes laced with musk engulfed her senses. Arousal slowing building between her legs as he innocently moved his fingers higher up.

Sierra found her eyes fixed on the couple beside them. Her gaze pupils slowly dilating as she watched the affection and adoration that Chris and Aiyana showed. It resonated loudly to the emptiness of her unhappy marriage.

She wanted more. And yet she did not want anything. They were incompatible anywhere except in bed leading their marriage in shambles pretty soon. Sierra missed the intimacy very much and she wanted what Aiyana and Chris seemed to have found. Even if it was for a short while, this was the thought that made her sad.

She realized she also missed the company of a friend and Sierra thought this was the hardest part. She had been new here when she got pregnant and had failed to make a lasting or a proper relationship with people. It was not like she did not have friends, more like none of them were close enough for her to talk. And that was what she missed the most.

Friendship.

A girl she could talk to. Spend time with. Just walk around carelessly doing nothing. Away from the apartment she now was forced to call home.

When Aiyana made her way into their kitchen, Sierra made her decision. She was going to steal that moment of selfish happiness. She was going to invite Aiyana on a shopping expedition. Sierra was aware that she could not tell Aiyana what she was going through not only because she was Chris' girlfriend but also because somehow in the past few months Sky and Aiyana had becoming relatively close.

They had shed the formalities of Mr. Arizona and Ms. Grey out of the classroom. Had been civil to each other and seemed to occasionally enjoy each other's company as they talked about novels and poetries. They were similar in more ways than one.

"Aiyana?"

"Yes, my dear?"

"Would you mind going baby shopping for little Ruth?"

Aiyana's face lit up in uncontained excitement.

"Really! You would want me there! Yes! Yes! Yes! I would love shopping for little things with you!"

Then bouncing outside to Chris and Sky she exclaimed "I am going baby shopping! I get to buy little things for little people!"

And broke into a dance.

Both the men laughed at her childishness before ignoring her again and started discussing sports.

"So, you are naming the girl Ruth?"

"Yes, it's after Sky's mother. He seemed to really want that and I had no conservations about what my baby girl was called so that was one decision we made without fighting."

"Have decided what religion she is going to follow?"

"I wanted her to be baptized and everything. Like I had imagined her wearing the same little gown I wore and everything. But Sky feels like we should teach her everything about religion and sort of let her decide."

"Is that what you can live with?"

Sierra gave Aiyana a sad smile but never responded to her question. Feeling the weight of Sky's decisions about everything in their marriage way her down even more than usual. Saying it loud, accepting that she had no power seemed to make her feel even more helpless.

"Okay. Are your parents coming to visit?"

"I suppose. I really want my sister here. You know to just be there. Like to have someone to talk to."

They had now entered a baby store for clothes and Aiyana instantly ran to this little blue dress they had on display. It was a princess gown, with a puffy skirt and lots of glitter. Pointing to it she asked, "Can we get that for little Ruth? Or are you not allowing her princesses and stuff to make her a strong independent woman?"

Sierra sighed, almost letting Aiyana's excitement wash over her in that moment, focusing on this and her beautiful girl.

"It would look very nice on her."

"Yes and we can buy her all these pretty pretty small dresses"

Sierra laughed and let Aiyana drag her around to buy a ton of baby clothes.
