Chapter Twenty-Eight

September:

Two months have passed and now the Loser's Club, sat in a meadow, listening to Beverly talk about what she saw during her floating.

Caroline sat in between Bill and Bev with her hand enterlaced with Bill's as she looked at Beverly speak.

"I can only remember parts. I thought I was dead. That's what it felt like."She started as her hands fidgeted in her lap.

Carrie noticed and put a comforting hand on Beverly's shoulder. Bev smiled at Carrie appreciatively, before continuing again.

"I saw us, all of us, back in the cistern.
But we were older, like our parents ages.

"W-what were we a-all doing t-the-re?''Bill asked, looking at the girl concerned.

"I just remember how we felt. How scared we were. I don't think I could ever forget that."She shakily replied.

Bill grabbed a hold of a shard of glass and stood to his feet.

"Swear it. S-swear if it isn't dead, if it ever comes back. We'll come back too."He asked.

Caroline immediately stood up next to Bill followed by Beverly followed by the rest.

He cut his hand open first before going around in a circle cutting each members hand open until he reached Caroline.

He gave her a knowing look before gently grabbing a hold of her hand and glided the glass down her hand.

She hissed at the pain before sighing and decided to take it.

He tossed the shard of glass behind him before taking a hold of Caroline's bloodied hand, followed by her taking Beverly's, then Ben's, Stanley, Mike, Eddie, and finally Richie taking a hold of Bill's other hand.

They all held them together for a few seconds before letting go.

"I gotta go. I hate you."Stanley spoke up first, glaring at Bill for a second as Bill looked at him sadly.

Stanley then let a smile grow on his face, as he let out a chuckle to say that he was only kidding.

"See you later."He said, before beginning to walk away.

"Bye, Stan."Bill whispered out.

And soon each of them left until it was just Ben, Caroline, Beverly, and Bill left.

"Are you all packed up for Portland."Caroline asked as she sat down next to Beverly.

"Yeah, I leave tomorrow."Beverly replied as she looked at her best friend.

"I'm really gonna miss you, Bev. You better call everyday or I swear to god."Caroline said.

"I'm going to miss you too, and I will. I promise."Beverly chuckled.

"I should probably go."Beverly said, as she stood, Caroline stood up and pulled Beverly into a tight embrace.

"You were, and will always be my best friend. Thank you for being that person. And this isn't a goodbye."Caroline whispered so only Bev could hear her.

Beverly smiled at that and nodded."And thank you for being my best friend for all these years. And always be yourself no matter what, Care."Beverly whispered back, as Carrie nodded.

"I love you, Bev."Carrie whispered.

"I love you too, Care."She replied as they pulled away from each other.

Beverly turned towards Bill who was watching the cute scene.

"Take care of her."She said, Bill nodded.

"A-always."He replied, with a smile.

"See you later, Caroline."Beverly turned towards Carrie.

"See you later, Beverly."Caroline replied.

Beverly smiled before heading back home. Caroline looked at Ben who watched after Beverly sadly.

"Ben,"Caroline said, causing him to turn towards her."Go after her."She said, smiling cheekily at him.

"W-what."He stuttered out confused, with his eyes bulged out.

Carrie rolled her eyes at him."I know you like her. Remember what I said in the library. Go and tell her."She encouraged.

He nodded, before beginning to rush after the redhead.

She chuckled at the two, before looking at Bill who smiled at her.

''Wanna walk me home."She asked, as she held out her hand towards him.

He walked towards her and took her hand in his.

"Always."He replied.

Before they sealed it off with a sweet kiss.
