I slept in like I've been doing for the last couple of days. My body has been wearing me down. I can't keep my food down because of the medicine, the kids are on full throttle every day and I can tell it's wearing on Taylor to have to look after them and me. So today I decided that I wouldn't spend all day in bed. I slowly moved around the room and limped over to my connecting bathroom to shower.

It was silent in the house and that was a little worrying considering the kids wake up at nine am like clockwork. I trailed back out when I made good on my hygiene stuff and dressed in sweats and a tank top.

When I finally made my way downstairs from taking ten years on the stairs themselves they were sitting in the backyard with their feet in the water. She had Kyson by the arms as she pulled him into the water. I slid the door opened and went to sit near the pool in one of the lounging chairs.

"He wants to be a dolphin he says." She laughed as she wiped the water from her face. "I told him he has to be able to hold his breath underwater to be a dolphin."

"Are you his special trainer?" I joked. She cracked a smile too. Her thick mane was dripping wet but it was so damn curly and pretty. Who said type 4 hair wasn't beautiful? They lied.

"I can teach him a little something something." She joked as she held him above water. He stretched out his body and just relaxed as she kept him afloat.

"Mimi, you want to swim too?" I asked her. Her thick brows knitted together and she shook her head rapidly.

"I'm scared." She said as she put her fingers in her mouth. I put my arms out for her so she came and sat in the chair, placing her head on my chest.

"I missed you," I told her as I held her close to me. "I've been in the bed for a long time. And I didn't get to spend much time with you." I kissed her temple repeatedly. She looked up at me and for a moment it felt so surreal to know that she was mine.

"Love you." She murmured and blew me a sloppy air kiss.

"You're so silly, pretty girl."

"Since when did we have water babies?" I heard him before I saw him. My heart leaped inside of my chest and I felt intense tingles in my stomach.

"Dada!" She squealed as she pushed up roughly from my embrace. She ran to him and went crashing right into his abdomen making him hunch over and gasp.

"What—what's wrong?" I asked as I weakly stumbled to get on my own feet and rushed over to him.

"I'm good. I'm good."

"You're lying! Stop lying!" I panicked as he continued to stay bent over. "Drew?"

When Brandon stood up straight again Drew looked him right in Brandon's eyes and placed his hand on his shoulder.

"You need to tell her."

He held Mimi in his arms but he didn't pick her up as she wanted him to. He leaned down to peck her forehead and she smiled warmly. I didn't realize when but Ky and Taylor were now out of the pool.

"Hey, dad." He said softly as if he didn't really know what to say. He stood behind Taylor as if to disguise himself.

"Come here, dude. Why you acting like I'm a stranger?"

He ran over to him and wrapped his arms around his dad. The absolute last thing I wanted was for their relationship to be strained. Brandon's relationship was strained with his own father and I know it would crush him to have his connection with his own son turn out that way. After all, all we have is each other and it's important that we expressed our love. He took my hand and I led him upstairs to my—well our bedroom, I slowly sat down and motioned for him to sit beside me.
