"What—the fuck is you doing?" I gasped as she put me in an all-black car. I knew some shit was up when I saw the car following behind us from the restaurant. In hindsight, I'm glad we didn't have Glocks in our reach because she would have unintentionally got hit up. But there's still a threat. The red corolla that was following us was now swinging back around.

As they pulled back through, on the wrong side of the street, the driver aimed but Bri was quick she stood behind the car and shot.  Where the fuck did she come from? But most importantly where the fuck did she get a gun from?

She missed all her shots but she got him to pull off again. She ran and got into the driver's seat. I gazed at the side of her face. She looked like a zombie, there was no emotion on her face as she sped away from the scene.

"Answer my question."

"What?"

"Why the fuck are you here?"

She gripped the steering wheel as she drove. I could see the sweat dripping from her forehead now. She was breathing heavily too. I reached my hand out to grab her chin, forcing her to look at me.

"I was scared. I felt like I needed to be with you."

"Where is Mimi and Ky? You brought our kids into a fuckin' war zone?"

"Are you dumb?" She gasped as she swerved around a corner. "They're fine. Herb and Kay are there."

I still don't even know how she even got here or how she knew I was here. I dropped my hand to her thigh and gave it a squeeze. She dropped her hand on top of mine and gave it a light squeeze in return.

"I need to get you back to Ralph so he can patch you up." She said as she watched her surroundings.

Then it hit me, she doesn't even know. She doesn't know that Ralph had departed last night or that he was laying on ice back at the little shack that we were using as a safe house. I can't take her there.

I tried to pull my phone out of my back pocket but my arm was too weak and so was my body. I don't know how many more bullets my body can take before them shits take me out. I groaned as I continued to reach for it. Use mine she said, pulling out a gun from the side of her door.

"We really gone have to sit and talk about this." I weakly laughed as I took the gun. "But I need my phone."

She instructed me to lift up and as I [painfully] did so she grabbed my phone from my back pocket and put it in my hand. I settled down and dialed Drew and told him all about this little intruder named Brielle and how the bait experiment went left.

"Yeah. She holding too." I told him as I shot her a cool glance. I could see the veins in her neck appear and disappear as she swallowed. "keep going straight until you reach Radian and then turn left on 12th street."

She followed my directions. Then she pulled into the lot where Drew and Mack were waiting. Mack led us into his bar which was empty during this time of day. She stayed close by me as Mack patched up my arm.

"Is he going to come back?"

That was what she asked as she sat in the chair beside me. Her hand was gripping the bottom of my t-shirt. I used my free hand to hold her by the thigh as Mack removed what he could of the bullet.

"He probably going to get his partner patched up. He won't be back too soon."

"Unless they send the others—we should have a cool-down period." Mack butted in. I gave him a death glare to silence him. Drew was off by the door on the phone, pacing back and forth. "Done."

Mack picked up all the bloody mess and trailed off to the back. Leaving me with my hardheaded ass fiancee, I was about to curse her ass out.

"You know I'm mad at you. Right?" I told her as I put distance between our chairs. She sighed heavily and rolled her eyes. "I'm being cool because I'm glad you okay but yo ass know better. You never suppose to follow me into no fuckin' war zone. Is you fuckin' crazy?"

She sat back in the seat, removing her grip from my shirt. She looked at her hands and then towards the door. She did save my life, and I'm forever grateful but she put herself in harm's way.

"I needed to see you."

"You could have called."

"I did. Several times. You didn't answer."

I got up and paced to a nearby table and sat on top of it. I held my arm as I looked down at her. I know this shit is hard, this ain't a typical life or scenario. I know she gets scared when I leave, to be honest, I get scared too. With each trip ain't no guarantee that I'll make it home to her or my kids.

I gently placed my hand under her chin and lifted her head so I could look her in the eyes. She blinked and a single tear rolled down her pretty brown cheek. I kissed her softly on the lips and pulled her up so I could hold her. As she inhaled my scent, she laid her head on my shoulder. Soon I could feel my my shirt fisted in her hands.

"I needed to know that you were okay."

"I'm good now," I told her as I kissed her forehead. She inhaled and exhaled softly. All the thoughts and curse words that I thought up to yell at her had disappeared. She's a rider for sure. I don't know any woman from my past that would do half the shit for me that Bri has done.

"The kids are fine. Mimi had an episode when she woke up and found her mother gone, but Kay has it under control. I called Taylor, she's on her way there now." Drew said joining us by the table.

I slowly turned my head toward her and observed the uneasiness rushing off her. Mimi's so attached to Bri and I know she wanted to see me but I think the best thing for Bri to do is to go home.

"Now, that you see me. I'm good—I'm breathing—Now I need you to go back to our kids and get ready for me to come home so we can say I do." I placed my dry palm on the left side of her face and caressed her cheek with my thumb.

"I feel like I need to stay here with you." She declared while her face rested on my hand. Truth is I need her, I been bottling up all my emotions revolving around Ralph sprouting his wings. I feel like I can't properly grieve because I'm so busy trying to keep bullets out my fucking head. But I'll never let her stay around me while I'm being hunted.

"I'm good. I got Ralph and Drew, and Mack—his ass lazy sometimes, but he got me." I said shooting a cool grin at Mack who was cleaning out drinking glasses behind the bar. He raised the empty glass and gave me a smooth head nod.

"Fine but I need something from you first."

"I got whatever you need?" I smirked and turned my body so that she was now between my legs.

"Not that." She laughed quietly as she put her arms around my neck. "I need you to answer when I call. whenever I call."

"Yo wish is my command. unless I'm being chased with snipers and pistols." I laughed but her face went sour. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pressed her body against mine. "I'm joking."

"Fine time to make that kind of joke." She mumbled and stood up straight. "That's the last thing I need to hear after what happened today."

"Speaking of—how you know I was here?"

"I may have snuck a gander at your plane ticket."

She's a special type of dedicated. There's a reason why I never tell her where I'm going. I didn't think she was capable of actually pulling this off, but little by little she proving me all wrong and shit. I didn't think she'd follow me, I never thought she'd shoot a gun or set shit on fire, or do a high-speed chase, but she did them all. Effortlessly.
