Into The Light

Chapter One

Stupid. Weird. Annoying. These were what the other students at the Magic Academy called Lylia every day. Since she joined the academy, Lylia had never made any friends. Her grades were excellent, and the professors adored her. Why did Lylia not have any companions, then? Simple. She was different.

Lylia was a Dark Wizard. Over a hundred years ago, the Dark and White Mages had been feuding over a mysterious power that the Dark Mages possessed, Alien Space Summoning. In the end, the Dark Mages were banished from the Land of Dawn. Lylia was the only one remaining; therefore, she was the successor of this strange and powerful magic.

That was not the only reason, though. Lylia always used her powerful, but dark magic to prove that she was right. Naturally, her fellow students misunderstood her. Overnight, she became known as the Little Witch.

Lylia sighed as she picked up her books. It was the third time that day that she had been pushed over. She felt a hand tap her shoulder.

"Who's there?" she hissed, already on the offensive.

"Hey, hey, calm down. Why so tense? I just wanna help!" Lylia looked up. A blond-haired boy in a top hat was staring at her expectantly. He looked to be about a year older than her. His hand was still extended.

Lylia grasped it and stood up. "I'm Lylia, who are you? Never seen you around before."

The boy chuckled. "So you haven't heard of me, eh? I'm Harley, the mage genius! I'm new here."

Lylia frowned and cocked her head to the side. Usually, people would call her the mage genius. Who was this boy who dared steal her title?

Harley laughed at her confusion. "Well, why don't we be friends? You can show me around this place," he suggested.

Lylia's eyes widened. No one had ever offered to be her friend. A small smile spread across her face as she replied, "We can be good friends! Indeed."
