A month or two later...

Jessie sat in her bedroom in her apartment sat down thinking about her life choices. She sat there only to be disturbed by knocking at the door and the whisper of the Brittish
"She will feel better if it came from me, no one else"
Making Jessie open up the door in confusion and concern.

"What's wrong Peg?" Jessie asked as she opened the door

"There is no easy way to say this Jess..." Peggy said then Jessie noticed the redness in Peggy's eyes... tears filled her own with knowing what had happened and she fell into Peggy who lowered her down and hugged her
"I'm so sorry for both of your loss Jessie" Peggy said as she hugged Jessie tightly but signaled for the men to leave her with Jessie.

After a few minutes Peggy took Jess inside and wrapped her up in a blanket

"How did it happen?" Jessie asked softly as she wiped tears off her face.

"Your brother fell off a train and Steve... he crashed a jet into the ocean" Peggy explained and Jessie nodded, fighting back more tears

"At least it wasn't painful for Steve... poor Buck tho-... why did it happen" Jessie said and buried her head in her hands and Peggy brought over some tea for Jessie.

"I will take care of you until I need to return to the SSR. No one is making me leave until then" Peggy promised and hugged Jessie

"It means a lot Peggy" Jessie smiled and gave Peggy a questionable look as she reached into her bag.

"I was given something to give to you... my chief of the new department I will be working at noticed your work and wants you to join me as a SSR agent Jess" Peggy explained and handed Jessie an envelope. 

"I'm not an office girl Peg... plus I am a woman with no experience than getting peoples lunch orders... plus I just lost my two brothers, I don't want to jump into this kind of stuff.. Thank you though for thinking about me" Jessie explained 

"Jess, I am not saying you have to take it. It is an offer and that means it is optional, however it expires very quickly here as these people don't like to wait" Peggy smiled

A few weeks later

"Good morning Jessie" Peggy smiled as she met the brunette

"Morning Peg, new outfit?" Jessie asked 

"good eye" Peggy laughed and they walked into the New York building. 

"Peggy and Jessie" Rose greeted as the two arrived at the building 

"Mornin' Rose" Jessie smiled as the elevator opened up and the two walked into the building full of SSR agents. Jessie and Peggy are the only two female agents in the SSR, so the men made them share a desk and essentially everything else. 

"Agent Carter, Agent Barnes, we just aught a redball out of D.C. All hand on deck" Chief Dooley said ad the two girls followed him only for him to stop them "Meaning cover the phones" he explained. Jessie gave a 'are you kidding' look while Peggy put a smart smirk on her face and went to her desk and picked up the phone 

"Rose, forward all calls to the briefing room" Peggy said to Rose then put the phone down. 

"Covered. Shall we?" Jessie said and the two girl walked into the room. They played a video of Howard Stark joking around and being his usual self. 

"So far, six pieces of Stark's technology have turned u either on the black market or in the arsenals of enemy states. He's been waffling on the Hill, treating the whole thing like a joke. Yesterday was the final day pf hearings and Stark didn't show. They checked hi9s half a dozen houses and his half a dozen offices... Nothing. So as of tis moment, Howard Stark is not only in contempt of Congress, he's a fugitive from justice" Chief Dooley explained causing Jessie and Peg to exchange a concerned look. "Find him. Squeeze him till he loses his sense of humor. Thompson, you're lead" Chief added
