A fair few months later.
Jessie woke up in her bed to the sound of someone at the front door. She grumbled as she rose out of bed and slid a jumped over her and some shorts before seeing Rhodey at her door.
"Are you kidding me?" She asked
"Well, you didn't answer your phone" Rhodey responded
"It is called sleeping... what did I miss?" Jessie yawned as she let Rhodey in.
"Well, Morgan's birth was one thing you slept through" Rhodey said
"Wait what!? When did Morgan come!?" Jessie asked
"Yesterday" Rhodey answered
"Ohh...yeah I took one of those sedatives Bruce use to use on me, I slept for like 2 days... yesterday and today... well, I'll go see Pepper when she is settled in back home" Jessie answered
"Nat was asking about you" Rhodey added
"Did you tell her?" Jessie asked as she got changed in her bedroom
"No, Steve was there so I said no one has heard from you" Rhodey explained, Jessie came back in a spaghetti strapped top and black joggers
"I hate doing this to them, but I can't get back to that Avenger life... Georgie has done amazing here without it all, he loves seeing you, Tony and Pepper... and now baby Morgan" Jessie laughed as she threw Rhodey a bottle of water and grabbed herself one
"Well, you'll have to tell Nat at some point. She was holding back tears wondering what happened to you, just vanished with nothing but a few of Georges things" Rhodey said and Jessie froze up before nodding slightly
"I just... I don't want her to have to keep it from Steve" Jessie said
"Well, tell Steve and see how it goes" Rhodey offered
"No, look I can't be dealing with that... I just know it won't end well with him, he still has it for Peg away" Jessie explained, shutting Rhodey down instantly.
"Fine. Just Nat then... what about if I get her to come here, but I'll tell her its top secret and then you two can talk" Rhodey suggested
"Why do you care so much if I don't talk to people?" Jessie asked
"Because, this is my job and how I promised you I would take care of you... look just forget it then, You, me Pepper, Morgan,Tony and George meet up on Friday for a welcome home party to Morgan, okay?" Rhodey asked
"Yes okay" Jessie said ass he hugged her son, who just came to see who was here.
"Uncle Rhodey" George smiled
"Hey buddy" Rhodey smiled
"You leaving?" George asked
"Of course not... I'll stay for a while if it is okay with your mom" Rhodey answered and the two year old turned to Jessie.
"Of course Uncle Rhodey can stay... want any food?" Jessie offered with a smile
"Nah, Its yours" Rhodey said
"Its donuts" Jessie smirked
"Oh fine, just don't tell Tony" Rhodey laughed and Jessie handed him and George a donut each
"Look Uncle Rhodey" George laughed as he ran into his room and grabbed his painting and ran back to show Rhodey, it was a picture of Rhodes, Tony and Jessie in their suits.
"He made it at his toddler group, he is so proud of it" Jessie laughed
"Take it" George said to Rhodey
"Are you sure buddy?" Rhodey asked
"Yes silly!" He said causing Rhodey to look at Jessie
"Hes been paying too much attention to me" Jessie laughed.
"So I see, I'll take it and let Uncle Tony see as well" Rhodey smiled
"Thank you!" George laughed and he hugged Rhodey.
"Its okay Georgie" Rhodey said and the group sat down and watch a movie before Rhodey had to leave.
A few days later
Jessie pulled up at the wooden lakeside house, smiling as she let George out his car seat. She walked with a small box and knocked on the door to see Tony answer it with messy hair.
"Good to see you" Jessie laughed
"You're... early..." Tony stated
"I know, this one wouldn't sleep in, he wanted to meet Morgan" Jessie laughed as Tony let the two in
"Present Uncle Tony!" George said hanging Tony a small little wrapped up item
"What is it?" Tony asked
"Something I found in my stuff I had hidden... Howard gave it to me, I feel like it belongs to you" Jessie explained as he opened it up
"Which is exactly?" Tony asked
"I never asked, I know you'll figure it out though" Jessie smiled
"Oh... and I wann give you this... I have two of them so I think you should at least get one" Jessie smiled as she handed him a leather jacket she ... borrowed... from Howard. Pepper came down the stairs with the little baby before Tony could question Jessie on how she obtained it
"Jessie! Oh I missed you" Pepper smiled as she handed Tony little Morgan and walked over to Jessie and hugged her
"I missed you as well! I am so sorry I missed the birth" Jessie said as she hugged Pepper back, while Tony sat down on the chair and George sat close to him.
"Someones is excited to meet Morgan" Pepper laughed
"Yeah, he wants a baby sister... don't think he gets how it happens" Jessie laughed
"That's adorable though" Pepper laughed then Rhodey walked in
"I swear you are always either early or never to show up" Rhodey laughed
"Blame that one" Jessie said nodding at George as Tony was carefully putting Morgan on his lap.
"Still wants a sister then" Rhodey laughed and Jessie nodded. As soon as Rhodey moved aside is when Nat made eye contact with Jessie for the first time in 10 months.
"Jess..." Nat said, The brunette glared at Rhodey before she smiled at Nat
"We should talk... let's go outside" Jessie said walking Natasha down to the lake
"Where the hell did you go?" Nat asked
"I got Tony to take me... you can't tell Steve you know I am here" Jessie said and Nat nodded slightly
"I got Tony to pick me up 6 months in because I just... I had enough of those arguments Nat, you saw them as well... literally anything was one, and you saw what happened" Jessie said
"You tripped on the rug trying to walk to George while Steve shouted at you, you hit your head and he felt super bad, he rushed you to hospital and then amnesia hit again" Nat explained
"Yeah, well then I found a few things out... Steve was still in it for Peggy... the grief in him, he just used it on me" Jessie said
"You know I would've spoken to him, right?" Nat said
"That's why I didn't go to you, George and me have a new life now... he goes to a toddler group, I have a job" Jessie explained
"A simple life" Nat said and Jessie nodded
"Yep, it's all I ever wanted in 1940" Jessie said
"I'm sorry, I should've been a better friend, I should've stopped Steve" Nat said and hugged Jessie
"Its not your fault" Jessie reassured and the two soon walked back inside the house to spend time with the group
