The next morning

Jessie yawned with a huge stretch as she saw Rhodey sat on the other side. She soon felt a stitch pop out, causing a small curse to escape her lips

"What happened?" Rhodey asked waking up

"I popped it open" Jessie said

"No, you're good. It was just the patch moving, they oddly feel the same" Rhodey laughed

"Hmm, thank you for last night" Jessie said as he helped her sit up

"I booked a few days off from Clint hunting... say, any idea who attacked you?" Rhodey asked

"No, it was weird... they knew the year I was born and my full name, which only my family knew, not even my birth certificate had my middle name on it" Jessie explained

"Maybe it's an ex hydra agent" Rhodey said

"Possibly, who ever it was... they had a great advantage over me... they were prepared with a lot" Jessie said then pulled the knife out her pocket

"That's the one you got stabbed with?" Rhodey asked and Jessie nodded. She soon looked at it and twisted the handle, making it come out. She looked and saw a small gathering of Intel on her whereabouts, but a photo she hid away

"Oh no..." Jessie said

"What?" Rhodey asked

"I know who done it... son of a bitch" Jessie said stressing out

"Who?" Rhodey asked

"Back in 1942, I just broke up with a guy... he kept sending letters of a promise as to never letting go of the supposed pain I caused him, which I never did. The picture... that's me and him, I knew he had a brother. Much younger, he was 23 when we broke up, his brother was only 4... I had his brother take a picture... this picture! He would be what... 78 years old I guess so... he could easily be a dad, have a son who is 40s, knew it all... sounds about right" Jessie explained

"I can take a look into it, don't stress about it now, I can take care of this part. I'll go out and fetch you some more food" Rhodey said and Jessie nodded. She went to wake up George and saw the male stood there

"Rhodey" Jessie said and he turned to see the same thing

"I'll get Stark on" Rhodey whispered as he called Tony. The male came leaping out at the two adults. Knocked Rhodey down before taking Jessie by the neck and pinning her down on the kitchen counter. She gasped for air and soon felt herself taking away some of his energy and used it to push him off of her. She coughed and Rhodey got up and wacked a chair around the guys head, knocking him down a little before he grabbed a huge sword. Jessie instantly dived infront of Rhodey taking the blade through her arm, soon falling down as blood spilled out of her. Rhodey reached into Jessie's pocket and took the knife and threw it into the helmet of the male. It stabbed through a little, causing a long enough delay but the guy threw it back down at Jessie and Rhodey. Soon a second came into the room, a female without any face coverings.

"Aw, look how dead she looks. Uncle Robert sends his hellos" girl said and soon saw the little boy, it made her stumble a little

"That's her son, who may not have a mother now if the wound kills her. So I hope you're happy" Rhodey said.

"Go now!" She shouted at the other and they vanished.

"Rhodey!" He heard Tony's voice shout over the phone.

"She needs a hospital Tony... its bad" Rhodey said trying to keep her head up as he saw the blood trickle down her lips.

A few hours later

"Two people... who has she been mixing with?" Tony asked

"She saw something, it made her believe it was her ex boyfriends brothers children" Rhodey explained

"That narrows it down... did she ever say who her ex was?" Tony asked

"No, I couldn't get a hold of Nat to find out... just the name Robert was all the woman said" Rhodey said as the two sat outside in the waiting area to hear about Jessie.

"That totally narrows it down...Well, Pepper has Georgie, who keeps asking about Jessie... maybe we should bring in Steve" Tony said

"Are you kidding me? She would murder us Tony, she wants him away from her" Rhodey argued

"You two are getting closer" Tony teased

"Just keeping my promise" Rhodey said, looking down at Jessie's diamond necklace he found for her. They soon looked over as they heard a door slam, seeing a very angry and upset redhead come through

"Where is she?" Nat asked, tears in her eyes

"Surgery still... second attack in 12 hours, she has some major enemies after her" Tony stated

"I would've came earlier but I had a meeting with Carol then had to shake Steve off my back after he saw me read that text about her then coming here" Nat apologised

"Its fine Natasha, sit down. I'll go find some food and drink" Rhodey said and stood up, leaving the room.

"Is he okay?" Nat asked Tony, hinting about Rhodey

"A small head injury and fractured nose and small bruising on his arm... I shouldn't have let him stay..." Tony said

"No, we didn't know it would happen... where is George?"

"With Pep, she is worried sick about Jessie... we don't even know if she can make it" Tony answered as then a nurse came through

"Mr Stark, Miss Romanoff... I have some news" she said

"Can we wait till Rhodes comes back?" Tony asked and she nodded.

A few minutes after Rhodey came back in and saw the nurse. She smiled as he stood there waiting to hear the news

"She is in recovery... just there was a huge loss for her, we couldn't save her arm" The nurse said, causing the three to exchange looks

"I am glad she is alive" Rhodey said

"I can try make her a arm" Tony offered, looking at Nat who just sat there silently.

"Well, this is how far up we had to... cut" the nurse explained handing Tony a picture

"Shouldn't take me longer than a few hours" Tony stated taking the picture.

"Go work on it, she would need it. I'll keep you updated" Rhodey told his best friend. Tony smiled before hugging Natasha and Rhodey then leaving.

"Would you two like to go to the waiting room?" The nurse offered, causing Nat to nod instantly.
"Follow me" the nurse smiled and led the two down a few corridors until they reached the room with Jessie inside.
