I was fond of bleachers
when you were
sitting on them.
I genuinely enjoyed
the vending machines
in the back hallway
when you were sitting across
from them,
your head placed against
the blank wall and a blinding smile
on your lips.
I liked the back of the wooden
stairs in the afternoon
when you would stand with me there.
I enjoyed that practice room
when you were sitting on the wooden
bench of the piano and your
fingertips kissed the keys so delicately.
you would look at me occasionally and my
heart would stop as I stared into your
colorful eyes.
I admired the back stairwell that led
to the dreaded Chemistry hallway
because it was the escape where I could
think about you
without feeling bad about it.
I adored the library because that
was where you were when I met you.
I savored the gym because that
was where we had really been in love.
I appreciated the walk from health
to spanish because I knew
that I would see you along the way.
I hated that walk because of
the traffic, but it was worth it just
to see you.
I loved the concessions stand
in A Hall because you used to come watch
me get ice there each morning.
and I would stay late just to see you.
but you wouldn't know that.
and now that we're crossing the stage
in red and in gold,
I know I will miss these moments.
But the fact that they happened
is enough to make me smile.
please don't let them change you and
who you are,
because I love you.
very much, actually.
