(Mackenzie's POV)

I woke up early the next morning and instantly got ready to go see Darry. I asked Johnny to babysit and he said it was fine.

I got dressed and got in the car with a coffee. I drove pretty quickly but safely. The hospital was in view. I pulled into a spot and got out of the car.

The glass doors slid open and I went to the front desk.
"Uhh Mackenzie Curtis for Darrel Curtis?" I said and she nodded.
"How do you know Darrel?" She questioned.
"I'm his wife." I responded.
"Okay, only family is allowed right now. Room 310" she said. She handed me a name tag and I put it on my shirt.

I walked over towards the elevator. I climbed in and pushed the third floor button. It went slowly and shut the doors. There were about two other people in there. The doors opened again and I saw Darry's door.

I moved quickly and quietly down the hallway. I peered in through the door and looked at him. Well, he wasn't alone. Lindsay was sitting in the seat next to him. He was still asleep but she was talking to him.

I came in and kissed his head. "Hi Lindsay. Why are you here?" I asked kind of coldly but I don't care.
"I wanted to see if he's alright." She said rudely.
"Well obviously not really." I responded.

A nurse came in and looked at us. Lindsay wasn't supposed to be here. It was family only.
"What are you ladies doing in here?" She asked.
"I'm Darrel's wife, Mackenzie." I said. I pointed to my name tag. She nodded and directed her head to Lindsay.

"Uhh, just a friend." She said. Stupid, only family. The nurse led her out and I sat next to Dar.
"Hi sunshine, I miss you." I said gripping his hand. "It's so hard not having you here. I need you to come back okay?" I said in tears. I didn't try to stop them. I just let the tears pour from my eyes down off my face.

I wiped them off and just decided to wait a little while. Just to see. I knew I probably wasn't going to see him wake up but I wanted to try.

The nurse came back in.
"Excuse me ma'am?" I said and she looked to me.
"Yes Mrs?" She said while checking his heart monitor.
"Please don't let that girl back in... she's not really a friend." I said. She nodded.
"Of course, she won't be back." She said.
"Also, do we have news if he's going to wake up soon?" I asked.
She nodded with a smile. "We're expecting him to be awake soon, maybe a few days!" She said.

I smiled so wide. I kissed his cheek. "I'll be back soon sunshine, I have to get back to the kids." I said.
I walked to the door and looked at him one more time and left the hospital. Only a few more days!
