My Best Friend Tadashi - Yamaguchi x Reader

Chapter 18

You were sat in your classroom with Yamaguchi, Tsukishima and Hana who had returned to school and you were eating your lunch together. That's when Hinata and Kageyama burst through the door drawing everyone's attention to them. Tsukki rolled his eyes and walked out of the classroom, not wanting to get involved with whatever was about to happen.

"(Y/N)" Hinata screamed, "we found Asahi!" completely ignoring Tsukishima as he left.

You got out of your chair and went up to the two boys. 

"What did he say?" you asked.

"He said he wasn't coming back" Kageyama said bluntly.

"What, but why?" you asked frantically.

"We don't know" Hinata said simply. 

"Suga must have been right, but we can't give up on him now, can we?" you said to the two boys, your eyes gleaming with determination.

"Hey (Y/N), what are you talking about over there?" Hana asked.

"Oh, sorry Hana, it's the Asahi guy I texted you about, if we want Nishinoya back on the team then we need Asahi back too" you explained.

"Ahh, right, is there any way I can help?" she asked.

"Sugawara said there wasn't anything we could do and that we had to wait for him to come back on his own," Yamaguchi explained "but (Y/N) wanted to help anyways".

"We can discuss it after practice, class is going to start soon" you said to them.

Time skip to practice~

You were up on the second floor of the gym with Hana when Takeda arrived with a man who had blond hair that was pushed out of his face with a headband.

"Hey, isn't that the guy from the shop?" Hana asked you and you nodded your head slowly. 

You looked down at Yamaguchi, looking for answers but he just shrugged.

"Okay team, I've invited Ukai to see if he wants to be your coach so make him welcome," Takeda began.

"They finally found a coach? No way!" Hana squealed "let's just hope he actually stays" she giggled.

Ukai began to explain how he was the old Coach Ukai's grandson and had brought the neighbourhood association team with him for a practice match. When they were preparing everything for the match Hinata looked out the window and screamed "Asahi!"

Everyone looked at him and you saw a boy with long hair trying to escape before everyone noticed he was there.

Ukai noticed him and called out to him "Hey, are you late? Get in here man bun!"

Asahi visibly trembled and tried to say that he wasn't a part of the team anymore, but he wasn't given a choice and was forced to get changed. When he returned, he was immediately put in the match, he was the ace after all.

You watched the game intently and smiled when Hinata and Kageyama pulled their special quick attack. You glanced over at Ukai and smirked when you saw his shocked expression.

"He's definitely going to stay now," you whispered to yourself as Hana just gawked at the volleyball game in general.

The practice ended and you went down to the floor of the gym and walked up to Asahi.

"Umm, excuse me," you were trembling, but you knew you had to ask him this question.

"Huh? Oh, yes, sorry, what is it?" he asked as he turned to face you.

"Umm, do you think you're going to come back to the team, they really need you, and you're an amazing player," you finished your sentence and looked back up at him. 

He blinked down at you, probably shocked that you had the courage to talk to him since he was aware of his rather intimidating appearance.

"I think I might," he said "hey are you the new manager or something?"

"Oh no," you said as you waved your hands in front of you "I just like to watch practice and I need to wait for Tadashi so we can walk home together" you explained.

"Oh, sorry I just assumed..." he began.

"Oh, don't worry, that's what most people think" you explained.

"Hey, (Y/N), your boyfriend's waiting for you," Hana called out to you.

"Hana, he's not my boyfriend!" you said as you rolled your eyes again.

"Yeah, yeah, get your butt over here anyways" she replied.

You bowed to Asahi and made your way over to your friends.

"Finally lets goooo!" Hana cheered grabbing onto Tsukki's arm. 

He looked down at her in disgust.

"Can you get off me?" he asked in disappointment.

Hana looked up at him and pouted, then she grinned, "Only of you say please."

"No" he replied. 

"Then you're stuck with me!" she laughed. 

Tsukki rolled his eyes and then started to try and peel Hana off his arm which didn't work as she just tightened her grip. You looked up at Yamaguchi who was snickering at the scene before you and then you had an idea. You grabbed onto his arm too and looked up at him. He had stopped snickering and looked down at you in shock, even Hana and Tsukki had stopped their bickering to stare at the two of you.

"Come on, let's goooo!" you smiled and walked out the door still holding onto Tadashi's arm.

Hana dropped Tsukki's arm and grabbed his wrist instead and dragged him after the two of you.

I don't really know if this is what happened either so I made it up again. I feel like my chapters go too quickly or is that just me reading them fast? Anyways we kinda got some more (Y/N) x Yamaguchi in this chapter, I know its kinda awkward and there's not that much of it but I find it really difficult writing lovey dovey stuff because I've never done it before.
