My Best Friend Tadashi - Yamaguchi x Reader

Chapter 30

"So, you're going to play Date Tech first?" you asked Yamaguchi. 

You were walking home with him, Hana and Tsukishima again.

"Aren't those the guys with the Iron wall?" Hana questioned with her mouth full of food.

"Can't you finish your food first?" Tsukishima asked her in disgust.

"Sorry Tsukki but no can do, multitasking is one of my many abilities and this just happens to be a wonderful example" she beamed as she swallowed her mouthful.

"But it's disgusting" he grimaced. 

"For you maybe, I happen to find it very delicious" she smiled.  

The two glared at each other for a while, while you and Yamaguchi just stared at them.

"Wait, did you say Iron wall, weren't those the guys that blocked all of Asahi's spikes last time?" you asked.

"Oh, I think you're right!" Hana replied. "I guess that means they're better blockers than Tsukki."

"Excuse me?" Tsukki asked, clearly offended.

"Oops I didn't mean to say that out loud," Hana grinned, Tsukki just looked at her in disgust.

"So, I can come and watch you right, Tadashi?" you asked.

"I don't even think I'm going to play in it" he replied.

"But its still your team so I'm coming to watch are you going to come Hana?" you asked as you turned yo your friend.

"Ehhh, I don't know yet but maybe" she replied. 

"Oh come on Hana I had to watch their last match by myself and you know what happened then, I don't think I can do it by myself again," you pleaded.

"Ugh, fine I'll come if I can, but I can't guarantee it" she said as she smiled at you.

"Thank you Hana!"

"You know she wouldn't have to do this if you weren't such a wimp" Tsukki said bluntly.

"Tsukki I know you did not just say that about my best friend!" Hana said to him as she crossed her arms.

"Here they go again," Yamaguchi rolled his eyes.

"Yep," you sighed as the two of them continued to argue.

"Shall we just leave them?" Yamaguchi asked you.

"Yes, lets go," you said as you grabbed his hand and walked away from your two friends.

You arrived at your house with Yamaguchi and you both went up to you room. That was when your phone rang, and you shuddered when you saw who was calling.

"(Y/N)I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LEFT ME WITH THAT TSUKISHIMA JERK!"

"Uhh, sorry Hana," you giggled nervously over the phone.

"Wait don't tell me you snuck off with Yamaguchi?" you could practically feel the smirk you knew was on her face right now.

"Ummm, yes?" you said hesitantly. 

"Oh, really? Well maybe I forgive you since it was for as good cause."

"I'm not having this conversation with you while he's in my room" you sighed. 

"Wait he's-"

You hung up.

"Was that Hana?" Yamaguchi asked.

"Uh, yeah" you said awkwardly. 

You sat in silence for a while, Yamaguchi wanted to talk to you, but he didn't know what to say. He wanted to say it to you, but he couldn't. So, he just sat there conflicted with himself.

"So... er... are you excited for the game against Date Tech?" you asked, trying to start a conversation.

"Well I'm kind of nervous, I guess," he admitted.

"Look if you ever feel nervous just look up and find me in the crowd, I'll be waving at you and then you won't fell nervous anymore I promise!" you told him cheerfully.

"But I won't even be playing" he replied a little sadly.

"It doesn't matter, I know you'll get nervous anyways" you said knowingly. 

"You know what (Y/N) I think I'm going to tell you one of my secrets now," Yamaguchi said quietly. You sprung up from your seat with excitement.

"Really!" you looked at him with wide eyes.

"Its nothing special or anything it was just kind of embarrassing for me," he began as you nodded at him encouragingly.

"Well, I've been practicing my Jump float serve with Shimada after school recently" he told you nervously. 

You blinked for a few seconds.

"YES, TADASHI YOU TOOK MY ADVICE!" you screamed excitedly as you tackled him with a hug. "I knew you would!"

"Woah (Y/N) calm down," Yamaguchi laughed as he awkwardly hugged you back.

"Now when you do play, you're going to be amazing and I'll always be cheering for you!" you beamed.

"Well I don't think I'm going to be amazing..." he trailed off. 

"Shhhh, don't say that Tadashi" you said to him as you pressed a finger to his lips. "You're going to be amazing because I said so, okay?"

Yamaguchi blinked at you and his cheeks turned a little bit pink.

"Ummm, okay?" he replied. 

"Pfft, you could at least be a little more enthusiastic," you giggled.

"Sorry, I'm just not very confident I guess," Yamaguchi said shyly.

"I know that Tadashi, I'm your best friend" you said as you rolled your eyes jokingly. 

Both of you suddenly realised how close you were and so you both sprung back.

"Errr, sorry," Yamaguchi said shyly as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"No, no, don't worry it was my fault," you apologised.

"Well I'll go now, okay?" Yamaguchi said.

"Right, be careful Tadashi," you said to the boy as he climbed out of your window.

"Okay bye (Y/N)" he said. 

The boy left and you lay down onto your bed, clutching your pillow to your chest as you gazed up at your ceiling. You buried your blushing face in the pillow as you thought about what had just happened. How strange, you thought, you really did like Tadashi a lot.
