Hazel sighed deeply as she stepped out of her steaming hot shower.
Last night she hadn't gone to bed until two in the morning, because she was waiting on Adonis to knock on her door.
She waited for hours and messaged him multiple times but received no answer, only to scroll through Instagram and see Jade T post a cheeky video on her insta story, with Adonis' face tucked in her neck.
Here he was, embarrassing her again, and making her feel unappreciated. Whether or not it was intentional didn't matter, because at the end of the day she was the one who forced her eyes to stay open deep into the night, waiting on a guy to knock on her door.
The video made Hazel instantly nauseous. The pair were fully clothed in the video, but it was obvious they had gotten real close and intimate at some point during the night. What hurt the most was that he couldn't even message her and let it be known that he couldn't make it. He just stood her up for no reason. It wasn't even like she asked for him to see her, he's the one who insisted.
And out of all girls, Jade T?
Hazel couldn't stand there and judge who was and wasn't suitable for Adonis, after all, he was a different person than he used to be, but she couldn't help but feel like she would be better for him. Yes, she was being jealous when she didn't have the right to be, especially since she was currently entertaining Owen. But there was a part of her that just couldn't ignore the fact that he was out here, standing her up for another girl.
And she didn't even look like her.
Although Hazel had always embraced her slender frame with average curves, Jade had an obnoxiously curvaceous body compared to her, and that caused a spec of insecurity to hover over Hazel's spirit. She was being highly sensitive for no reason, but the fact that Adonis was checking for girls with curvy bodies, and someone who usually wore twenty six inch Brazilian wigs, had her feeling like his type had changed. Or maybe he wasn't attracted to girls who were more on the average side. In today's age, never mind a pretty face, you needed the body to match it.
Hazel didn't have the Nicki Minaj inches or the Dr Miami curves.
Dressing herself in a casual Nike jogging bottom and an oversized T-shirt, Hazel made her way to the kitchen to get some food in her system, soon after, she was sitting by her dining table, answering important emails, and booking two flights for promo trips she was going to take in September.
It was all going well until she heard a knock at her front door, which forced her out of her seat, and towards the door.
"Hey." She smiled sadly as she laid her eyes on Adonis. He was dressed in black slim fit jeans and a white oversized crewneck. On his feet were crisp clean white Airforces. The white in his attire really brought out the sparkle of the diamonds in his watch and the chain he wore around his neck. In fact, this was the first time he had come to her house with diamonds demanding attention against his skin.
"I'm sorry about last night. I got caught up, I should've let you know what was up." He apologised, whilst clasping his hands together.
Busy with Jade. The slick voice in Hazel's head mumbled. He doesn't even look sorry.
"Okay." Came Hazel's reply. She almost sounded drained. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate him apologising, but it just felt like every time they apologised to each other and took two steps forward, they always ended up ten paces back. Part of her was starting to believe that they would never be on the same page, or clear about what they had going.
"Can I come in?" Adonis questioned as he rose his eyebrow curiously. Usually she would've let him in straight away, but right now he could feel the animosity radiating off of her.
