There's something very beautiful about memories: They don't fade - especially the beautiful ones. They dance around your memory for the rest of your life, because you remember how you felt in that moment, and who made you feel that way.
Memories were all that Adonis could think of as he stood in the booth in the studio, spitting to a slow, mellow beat which Dice had created a while ago. The gentle synthesisers over the percussions awoke something that he'd hidden for so long in the depths of his heart. It was the memories of his best friend.
His lyrics came out more passionate as he closed his eyes, remembering the feeling of her soft plump lips locked with his the day before. He was never one to chase females, nor did he reminisce over them, but he couldn't afford to lie to himself about missing her. He wanted an opportunity to just sit down with her and sort out their issues. Even if she wanted nothing to do with him on a relationship level, he yearned for the comfort of her friendship.
"Yo, run it back, lemme hear what I've done." Adonis called out to Dice who was sitting outside the booth. He stopped the beat from running, then nodded his head, waving for Adonis to come out and hear himself. Upon listening to it back the lyrics 'she gave me hope and I built on it, couldn't ever see myself soar without her' hit him differently. There was a raw truthfulness to what he was saying. 'Knew she was for me when I laid eyes on her, still couldn't do right by her...'
"What... you're tryna release this one?" Dice questioned with a slight chuckle. Never had Adonis asked him for a subtle beat, then actually spit real emotional heart-breaking shit on it about a female.
"Fam. I could never. You know what the females out there will do? I need to keep the fantasy of being with me alive in their brains." He replied with a genuine laugh. The way to keep females engaged with him was to be single, for some reason it kept them excited.
"True. True." Dice hummed as he did some clicking on his keyboard. "Who broke your heart though? I never knew you were feeling someone." He announced with honesty.
"It's complicated man. She don't even wanna lay eyes on me." It wasn't like he was oblivious to her reasons, but he wished she would try to overlook everything and give him the benefit of doubt.
"First love?"
"Only love." He replied. There was nothing more he could say; since her, he hadn't felt deeply about another girl.
Before he could get another word in, Jordan, one of his best friends who he used to chill on the blocks with, walked in. Not only had he two made a difference to his life, but things were falling in place ever since he started directing and producing his short stories. The money he was making off of YouTube was mad, and he was eating good. "Broski!" He yelled obnoxiously as he made his presence known. Even though his money was getting long, his style stayed the same; you could always find him in a tracksuit.
"Bro!" Adonis greeted in response. He couldn't help the smile that etched along his lips when Jordan walked in.
"Fam; how was the shoot yesterday?"
"It was sound y'know." Adonis admitted as Jordan bumped fists with Dice.
"If I came though you know I would've been chatting to all the peng tings there."
"Chatting shit!" Adonis laughed, "Shut your midget looking ass up!"
"Fam, anymore lies and your nose is gonna be doing up Pinocchio." Dice chimed in, earning the middle finger from Jordan as we clowned him.
"There was only one girl anyway. You couldn't get her number even if you tried." Adonis commented.
"Whatever man. I'm chatting to one bird I saw on insta anyway."
