"TRY IT AGAIN FINLAY!" Thomas yelled over the sound of his machine. Thomas was so close to getting his mining machine to work and he spent most of his time now perfecting his dream.
"Yes Master Sharpe," he relied. Thomas ran over to a part of the machine and stuck his hand in it to get it to work. I watched him and grew concerned as his face scrunched up in pain. He screamed in pain as he removed his burnt hand from the machine, holding it gently.
I walked up to him and held his arms, "my darling are you alright?" I looked at his burnt hand and reached to touch it. He winced in pain.
"It's pretty bad. There are some bandages in a box in the kitchen."
"Okay, let's go." I wrapped my fingers around his unharmed hand and ew walked back into the house.
"Is everything alright? Thomas what happened?" Lucille asked as she saw us walking in, "I thought you were working on the drill."
"Everything's fine Lucille. I was working but burnt my hand, y/n and I are going to sort it out." Thomas replied. Lucille looked at me with evil eyes but walked off without saying anything.
"Do you think she's okay?" I asked looking rather frightened in the direction she left in.
"She's always fine, let's get this burn sorted yes?" He smiled at me causing me to blush. I don't know why; he still makes me blush.
----time skip----
"There we go," I say as I finish wrapping up Thomas' hand, "We'll need to change the bandage after a while, so it doesn't stick to your skin and rip off the healing skin." I close the box of bandages and give Thomas a small kiss on his cheek as he looks at him hand with a frown.
"My hands are getting rough now, your father would've approved. Then maybe he would think I could deserve you."
I looked back over my shoulder to see his eyes red rimmed and brimming with tears, "hey, you deserve me no matter what my father thought. He was old fashioned and didn't care for my feelings... he just wanted more status and power."
Walking to him I held his bandaged hand and held it to my heart, forcing him to look at me, tears now falling down his cheek, "Thomas, I love you. My heart beats for you, I couldn't care less what my father had to say. If he thought that you didn't deserve me then he was wrong. He couldn't see the man you are," he lowered his head, but I lifted it with my index finger.
"I'm a failure y/n, I can't get the miners to work and we're running out of money. I can't provide the home you're accustomed to and I can't provide you the marriage you expected."
I laughed and he stared at me completely confused, "Thomas I love you. I don't care where we live or how we live, but as long as I'm with you. You aren't a failure," at this point tears were stinging my eyes too, "the marriage I have is the best it could be because I have you. It's better than I could ever imagine. Your machines will work I promise you. It hurts me to see you like this."
"Darling... I'm sorry," he completely broke down, "I want you to be happy-"
"I am happy." I wrapped my arms around his neck as he buried his head in my chest, listening to my heartbeat. We stayed that way for a while, him crying into me; I ran my fingers through his messy hair.
"Tell me you love me," Thomas mumbled.
I lifted his head again and kissed his lips with as much love and empathy I could, "...I love you Thomas. More than life itself."
"I love you too."
"SIR! The machine!" Finlay yelled through the halls, "It's working!"
Thomas' head snapped round to the door then back to me, his face frozen with a dumfounded expression. He leaped off the table and ran out the room, I followed quickly behind him.
We saw him searching the rooms for us and lit up when he saw Thomas. They ran up to each other and I noticed how Lucille had joined us.
"Are you sure Finlay?" Thomas said, hope and desperation clouding his eyes.
"Yes sir, I'm positive," he smiled. Thomas exploded into happiness, lifted me up and spun me round planting hundreds of kisses across my face.
He set me down and I held onto him for support, "I told you it would work."
"I love you darling." He kissed me again.
"I love you too Thomas."
"ehem," Lucille coughed loudly. We looked over to her and saw her scowling, "shall we go look?" She pointed to the door.
"Come on my love," Thomas grabbed my hand and almost dragged me to see the function clay miner.
A/N: I was going to stop this at the 'I love you Thomas' line but I wanted to include Lucille's reaction a little more bc ya know the whole incest thing. Share your thoughts. ❤
