We have only been on the island for one day and my life has been threatened by the creatures that inhabit it 3 times. There was a giant spider that almost speared me with its leg, and a crawler on the way to Hank Marlow's home. But no one was expecting the acid rain.

We had just lost two more men after the crawler attack. I kept close to James Conrad as we walked, and I may or may not have fallen on top of him when my leg got trapped in a vine.

"Are you okay y/n?" He asked as I struggled to get off of him. I got flustered as it's not every day you're trapped on an island with an EXTREMEMLY hot guy... and you're the only female.

"uh-he yeah I'm good. Sorry." I ramble.

"It's fine, just keep your eyes on the ground as well as everywhere else." He held your arm for a little too long and you had no way of hiding your blush. Conrad coughed awkwardly and continued walking.

The sky was getting really dark, the clouds came together to block out the beating sun. Finally, we had some shade. Suddenly there was a loud clap of thunder and the sky was lit up with lightening.

"We have to GO!" Marlow yelled over the thunder. Fear instantly flooded through me and I froze. Marlow started running and so did everyone else.

"Y/n COME ONE!" James shouted. I couldn't, it was like I was ice. He ran over to me before the rain started pouring and grabbed me. The second I felt his warm skin on mine, I came back to reality and felt him tug hard on my arm, forcing me forward.

"Y/n just hold on and run," I heard him say and we ran as fast as I could. I managed to stay with Conrad, and we caught up with Marlow again. Ahead of everyone else.

I heard a defining scream and looked to see one of the pilots of the destroyed helicopter literally burning as he got wet from the rain. Acid rain... oh God...

The adrenaline in me made me run faster, and I felt Conrad grip onto me tighter as we tried to find shelter. I know the advice of not to look back at whatever you're running from, but I had to. I just had to see. I looked quickly and in the few seconds I saw the skin melting off the soldier's fronts. My eyes widened as we found a small opening and hid there until the rain stopped.

None of the plants or small animals we saw while running hadn't gotten burned, they've been here so long they've adapted to it. We watched the rain fall and heard the final screams as the men turned into nothing. I hugged myself into James out of instinct and I felt him rest his head on mine. He was watching the rain fall.

It didn't last long, but my fear was still there even after it had stopped.

"We're going to have to wait until the rain is dried. If not, your feet will burn off." I didn't look at Marlow as he spoke, though I certainly imagined the thought of my feet burning on the ground as I walked.

Marlow talked to the other survivors when James checked up on me, "how are you feeling y/n?" His hand travelled to mine that was holding his knee. I nodded as he intertwined our fingers. "You'll be fine, the rain will dry under the heat quickly, so we'll be back on our feet soon."

"Good," I mumble.

Like he said, the heat dried the rain quickly and we got to walking again. I held onto James' knife like he showed me, and he had his rifle. We soon got to Marlow's camp where the real adventure began.
