You Found Me

Chapter 32

~Kaitlyn's POV~

A week later I am being shaken awake by my loving boyfriend almost too early.
"Ready for the doctor?"
I groggily rub my eyes and make a noise which sounds like a mixture of a dying whale and the hiss of a snake.

"That's the spirit!" Ash pats my head awkwardly and exits the room so I could get ready.
I change into a pair of black leggings and a maroon sweater. Not bothering with my wavy mess of hair I add a gray beanie on top. I wash my face as well but leave the makeup off because we're probably running late.
The appointment is at 10.

Lastly I slip into my floral printed combat boots and go meet Ashton downstairs.
We drive to the hospital which is only about 15 minutes away.
Once inside Ashton checks in and we both sit and wait for my name to be called back.

After a few seconds pass a young mother comes into the waiting room. Trailing behind her is a little boy, who looks to be about 4. She seems to be having trouble getting him to cooperate however.

"Jay would you please work with me!" She pulled at his little arm, but Jay only stopped his feet and whined even more.

Looking at this made me get goosebumps. What if that ever happens to me? How would I handle it?

"Miss Hemmings?" A nurse called for me and I walked by the lady and her son politely with Ashton following close behind me. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it firmly in a comforting way.

"Alright Doctor Maria will be in shortly." The nurse announced as I took a seat on a stool beside Ashton.

Just as promised, my doctor came in only a few moments later. She shook our hands and instructed me to lay down on the bed in the room. Next to it there was a big contraption connected with wires and such.

"Okay Kaitlyn I know this is a big moment for you but if you could lift up your shirt for me so we could proceed." I did as I was told, lifting my sweater almost all the way up to my chin.

Being nearly 5 months in to pregnancy comes with a very round stomach. I'm used to it, but this is the first time Ashton has seen me so exposed. However he stayed by my side and assuringly held my hand.

The doctor applied the gel that was rather cold, but when I saw the images on her screen I knew it was worth it.

She turned to us both with a big smile.

"I have some exciting yet surprising news for you two. It appears as though you will be having twins. One boy and one girl. I have more patients to attend to but congratulations. I'll see you in about 2 months." She explained calmly and left us in awe.

"Oh my gosh." I whispered and got myself cleaned up. But Ashton had already paced out the door before I could catch up. I ran out the doors to catch up to him and eventually spun him around once reaching the parking lot.

"What the hell is wrong with you Ash?!"

"Oh I don't know, maybe the fact that you're pregnant! With twins!" His eyes held a look of rage and anxiety about to be taken out on me.

"HOW DO YOU THINK I FEEL?! EVER THOUGHT OF HOW I AM? YOU KNOW, THE ONE CARRYING THESE CHILDREN?" He only rolled his eyes at my counter though.

"You don't get it, do you? I have a job, a life. We're only 20 and not married Kaitlyn! I have so much ahead of me I don't have time to stay at home and help with twins! One is fine but you and I both know that two will be tough for you to watch alone. This could destroy us!" Ashton screamed at me.

"You know I completely understand and agree with your points. But the only difference is that I'm willing to go through with it and take the risk." With those words I ran off as fast as a pregnant lady can. It helped that he didn't come after me because I would've lost that foot race.

I quickly found some empty alley and slumped down in the middle of it. By now it's begun to get stormy out but I didn't care. I want nothing to do with Ashton. And he wants nothing to do with me or our babies.

So instead I just sit there and cry.
