I sat on the floor, reluctantly packing my bag. I hated going to college, especially for exams. I always got really uptight.

I quickly stuffed the last of my clothes in and curled up on the bed with my books.

I sighed as my best friend Jay Mcguiness poked his head around the corner, a mischievous glint in his eye.

"Go away, I have to study." I told him sternly.

He laid on the bed beside me, watching me.

Eventually I looked up and he beamed at me.

"Stop trying to distract me." I sighed tearing myself away from his deep blue eyes.

"But I'm bored." he groaned.

"Well it's alright for you 'Mr I've graduated dance college and now I don't know what to do with myself', but I have to study." I said gesturing inverted commas.

He grinned at me and picked up one of my books.

"What's this one about?" he asked picking up my question book.

"They are all about anatomy and physiology." I said snatching the book from him impatiently.

"Ask me one then?" he said excitedly.

"You won't have a clue." I chuckled.

"Try me." he said raising his eyebrows at me.

I rolled my eyes and began searching through the book.

"Make it an easy one." he grinned.

"Okay found one. What does Viviparous mean?" I asked.

"Oh c'mon, I said an easy one." he complained.

"That is an easy one." I chuckled.

"I'll ask you questions instead." he said quickly taking the book from me.

"Or maybe not, I can't actually pronounce most of these words!" he exclaimed.

I laughed as he handed me the book back.

"I'll put dinner on then." he stated before leaving the room and finally leaving me to study.

I had known him for years, we met at primary school and had grown up together.

After my mum passed away and my dad remarried I had moved in with Jay, his mum and his four siblings, Luke, Eleanor, Sean and his twin Tom. A couple of months ago we had finally found a flat to rent. It was so peaceful with just the two of us.

After I had finished my studying I wandered downstairs. I frowned as I couldn't see Jay anywhere. I screamed as he jumped out on me. He was laughing so hard that he was clutching his sides.

"For god sake you are nineteen years old, when are you going to grow up." I said rolling my eyes.

He shrugged.

I sat at the kitchen island and turned on the laptop.

"How are you feeling about your exams?" he asked as he sat next to me.

I glanced up at him and saw that his lizard Tia was on his shoulder.

"Panicking as usual." I admitted.

"You'll be fine." he reassured me.

"I can drive you to college if you want?" he added.

"Yeah that would be good. I have to stay overnight though, as I have one Tuesday morning and one Wednesday afternoon." I told him.

"How long does the drive take?" he asked.

"A few hours I guess, but I'm not sure coz I usually take the train." I answered.

He groaned.

"I can take the train, I understand that you don't want to drive that far." I said quietly.

"Don't be daft, I was messing about." he grinned.

"You'll just have to put up with me singing." he added.

"I'm sure I can cope with that." I winked at him.

"Has your agent got you any more auditions yet?" I asked him.

He shook his head.

"I thought after doing the Aladdin panto that things would pick up a bit, but I guess not." he sighed.

"At least you got some money for it and a free holiday in Inverness." I smiled trying to cheer him up.

"I guess." he said quietly.

I watched him closely as he put Tia back in her tank.

I quickly logged on to goggle and typed in auditions. I gasped as I saw one that looked promising. It simply said:

'Wanted: Male Vocalists.'

"Jay, come take a look at this." I called.

"What?" he said as he stood behind me and leant over me. Goosebumps appeared on my arms as his arm brushed against mine.

"I'll never get it." he sighed.

"But what an opportunity, it's for a band that's going to be managed by Jayne Collins as well." I pointed out.

"Just apply for it, you never know what might happen." I added.

"I'll think about it." he said quietly before leaving the room.
