Chap 10: Things Are Not Meant to Be

Aila finally graduated high school June 2012 with a GPA of 4.76 and number 11 out of her class. She continued to do her moms job, which was cleaning houses.

When President Obama gave DACA, Aila was able to apply and get approved. Now she had at least a social security number and was able to get a job and still helped her mother with cleaning.

At the end of 2012 she meet a very interesting individual. She went to a party and came across a guy, he looked like he was in his 20s, with glasses. They instantly clicked and talked all night long, exchanged numbers and became best friends. All this happened so quick and they didn't see the feelings developing for each other.

In February 2013, even knowing they have soulmates and should stay away from each other, Brian insisted for something more. Aila had a conflict in her head and her heart, but they decided to try it out.

They had many things in common. First they both were from Honduras. This in it self made them closer. Both had been brought to the USA as kids. Both moms left them with a family member, but unlike Aila, Brian had gone thru worse things than her when he was in Honduras. They both painted and drew, art was a shared passion. Brian was also into making music. He was a pretty good rapper.

Dates consisted of trying restaurants, museums, festivals, parks, libraries, and frozen yogurt. They both got into photography, and developed many skills, bought expensive cameras and shared their progress with the each other.

Brian got into it as a hobby but many people took interest so he started taking portrait pictures and Aila was his helper. They had a little business going on. Their relationship was great. They understood each other, and the many interests they shared made them have fun dates.

Brian had dated before, many times. He lost his virginity at 16 and being able to write music made him very articulate with words. Something Aila saw as a threat to her heart.

Brian was her first everything: Kiss, hand holding, make out sessions and later, sex. Aila never viewed herself as physical beautiful. There was nothing striking about her. She has brown eyes, brown curly hair that she kept pass her shoulders and was thick. She had always been a size 10-12 in her life. So exposing herself to Brian became a challenge, but he made sure to make her feel love and secure. When they made the step to have sex, Aila felt loved and was so sure of doing this with him. They had dated for 8 months and she couldn't have been happier, even when they had soulmates somewhere else in the world.

Both decided to go back to college, even thou they got charged out of state tuition. Aila decided for medical interpreter/translator and Brian for graphic designer. Both got jobs they loved and in 2015 moved in together. Both were beyond excited when they finally got an apartment together. The love they had for each other became stronger and their relationship felt like a dream. The thought of their soulmates long forgotten.
