Why hadn't she said anything?

Why didn't he ask?

Questions upon questions had been driving Brian crazy. He was so hurt Aila was going through something so hard and hadn't said anything to him.

When he had seen her, he could tell something was off. She was staring into space a little too much. She's so good at covering her emotions. She's so quick to just let go and act like nothing is wrong.

But he knew. He felt like something was wrong. After all, he knows Aila better than anyone. Better than any of her friends.

Then if he claims he knows her, then why didn't he ask?

Maybe because he saw how she was happy with his soulmates.

Maybe because he knew Aila was strong enough to overcome whatever it was troubling her.

But now, seeing her on the hospital bed, pale, with wires all over her body, she looked so fragile. So human. So vulnerable to emotions.

He still didn't know what happened between them. The doctor explained what happened, but he didn't know what lead to such a culminating point.

He didn't really feel like taking to their staff. They usually came in and out of the bedroom, to check up on Aila, but he never once glanced at them. The only ones he directed a word to were his soulmates, whom had done a schedule to always have at least one person with him.

Brian was so thankful to his other pieces. They didn't have to care for Aila, yet they are here, at the hospital, not caring about their own health, and putting his best friend ex-lover first.

Brian was falling, hard.

"We got you food!!!!" Maria came in, half whispering, half shouting, waving the bag of food in the air.

"Any news?" Van made sure to close the door behind him as his girls settled on the long couch the room had.

"Not really. She's been going on and out of sleep but never fully awake. The doctor said that by today at night or tomorrow at the latest she'll wake up."

"Well that's good. Her body must be energy drained from breaking all of her bonds. We... Umm.." Nyala hesitated before continuing, "Umm the others are getting moved to another room. It looks like theirs bodies are fully healed so they dont need to be in this floor anymore."

So the others were awake. The doctor had explained it would take Aila more time for her body to be fully running.

"Ok sounds good. I'm glad they are ok."

"Are you going to meet them?" Maria asked.

"No, even if I introduce myself they won't even spare me a second glance. I think it's best for Aila to wake up and see what she want to do."

"Let's just hope she's strong. She's going to need all the strength for this situation."

****

Brian was sleeping with his head resting by Aila's arm, as she lay on the bed. This was probably a very bad position to sleep, but he had refused to go home. He wanted to be there just in case Aila finally woke up.

He felt light touches on his head. A very confortable warmth was making its way back and forth between his forehead and top of his head. It felt nice.

He bagan to stir a little, realizing there was something moving across his head. He open his eyes, sleepiness threatening to close them back up.

"Wake up dormilón." (Sleepy head)
