Battle Scars

Tuesday morning, 3:00 AM. Your alarm wakes you up as your room is pitch black. It's too early for this. You turn on your lamp and get the shower running. You had to be at the office by 4:30 to board the plane to El Paso, Texas. Today's case was a big one which you were excited for, but you weren't excited for the uncomfortable tension between you and Spencer.

You make your way into the shower, the warm water hitting your skin. You wash up and then turn the temperature colder, you needed to wake up. After a few moments of soaking in the cold water, you get out to grab your towel and dry off. The plane ride was estimated to be about 3 hours, which gave you time to look into the case more and nap if you needed.

You put on a dark green shirt with work pants, casual clothing. The time was now 3:50 and Morgan was going to pick you up at 4:00. So, you make breakfast really fast as you wait for him to arrive. You hear the honk and make your way into his car.

"Hey silly girl, got you a coffee." Morgan says handing you a fresh cup. "Thank you, I appreciate it. I definitely needed this." You say yawning. "You can sleep on the plane if you want, we have a longer flight than usual." He says. "Hey, I need advice. Do I act normal towards Spencer today? I know i'm overreacting about the whole thing, so should I just stop being mad?" You say sighing.

You really didn't want to be awkward with Spence today. Maybe you were overreacting, you would've probably said the same if the team asked you that, definitely would've said it nicer though. "In my opinion, I get why you got upset. That's a hard thing to hear, especially the way he worded it. But, If you truly want my opinion, yes act normal." He says turning into the parking lot.

"Alright, I will." you say getting out of the car. You and Morgan make your way onto the plane. The team looked normal, as usual. Spencer writing in his journal, JJ and Emily having a conversation, Hotch and Rossi organizing files. You decide to let it go and you sit in front of Spencer. He closes his journal once he notices you sat down.

"Oh hey, didn't see you there. Good morning." He says smiling. "Good morning. Did you sleep well?" You say trying to start a conversation. "To be honest, not really. I've been trying to figure out something, it made me lose sleep over it. Would you like to help me?" He says turning around looking if anybody was behind him.

"Yeah, sure. What's up?" You say intrigued in the conversation. "I've been trying to figure out why a beautiful girl was upset with me. I think I know the reason why. Maybe she overheard something that wasn't true.. what do you think?" He says looking into your eyes as he bites the bottom of his pen. Your stomach flipped once you realized what he meant.

How did he know you heard? He didn't even see you by the door when he was talking to Hotch. "Um, what are you talking about?" You say trying not to give in. "Y/n, you know exactly what I am talking about. You know I didn't mean that right? I didn't want to say our business to the group." He says sitting back in his chair.

Our business? That's interesting. "I mean, I guess." You say shrugging. "Oh come on baby, I'm sorry if I truly hurt your feelings. You know that what I said wasn't for real." He says grabbing your hands. Hold on, did he just call you baby? "I was overreacting, I'm sorry. I just felt as if you were using me or something." You say looking down.

He gives you a serious look and raises his eyebrows. "Using you? I would never do that. What we do in our free time is for our pleasure, you know I care about you y/n. I love to be with you. If you ever feel as if i'm using you, tell me. I'd never want you to feel like that." He says passionately.

Did he just hint his feelings for you? Your conversation gets interrupted by Hotch. "Rossi is handing out the files now to you all. The profile we gave to news reports yesterday was spot on. We got a caller that supposedly said they knew who this unsub is. It was a wife calling in her husband who's had unusual behavior in the past couple weeks, Harbor Roberts is the name." He says.
