Chapter 26 - I Got You

I smiled to myself, watching Karsyn as she clearly tried her best to not let her emotions take over. If there was something I knew about Karsyn, it was that she was a sucker for being serenaded, and right now she was getting her own personal Nick Carter concert.

"You ok?" Donnie whispered into my ear, his arms wrapping around my waist. I couldn't help but smile before holding his arms around me. I turned to look at him and smiled wider when I caught him looking at me.

"Yea. This is so awesome. I'm jealous of Karsyn."

Donnie gave me a look. "You want Nick to sing to you?"

"Not Nick," I said before turning to watch Nick sing to Karsyn, squeezing Donnie's arms softly.

"Hmm well I don't really serenade, but I do a mean back rub."

I couldn't help but grin to myself. I'd settle for a backrub.

I had been sitting there for I know over thirty minutes, watching Nick with just a guitar singing to me. He started with "Addicted," and then went into "I Got You." Then he did "Not The Other Guy," "Falling Down," "The Great Divide," a cover of "Free Falling" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and "Just One Kiss." I figured he was going to end it with "Just One Kiss" since he knew that was probably my favorite song that he's recorded, but then he said he had one more and started playing something else on the guitar.

I saw AJ walk up on the little stage, pulling up a stool next to Nick. Then it hit me what song it was. Nick had changed up the beginning melody.

I didn't really feel like sitting anymore so I stood up, watching as AJ began singing along softly with Nick to Journey's "Faithfully," one of my favorite Journey songs.

I kind of got lost on what part of the song they were on because there was a part of me that wished I had a camera to take pictures or take video. I didn't even bring my phone, but then I realized that I probably shouldn't even bother with that. This wasn't a real concert and right now I wasn't really just a fan.

Before I even realized it, the song was over and I practically leaped up on the stage as Nick put his guitar down and jumped him, hugging him tightly.

"I don't get a hug? I just sung a fucking Journey song for you," AJ said as Nick gave him the finger.

Once Karsyn jumped up on stage me and Donnie set about bringing the cake out. I swear these boys have no idea how to do things themselves. They clearly were too used to people running around after them, for the moment I sent Donnie in with paper bowls and plastic cutlery Jon and Howie started laughing at him. I carefully carried the boxed up cake in and set it on the table before looking around.

"Cake now, or party first?"

"Did someone say cake?" Karsyn shouted from the small makeshift stage, making me look over and laugh.

"Yes I said cake. You want now?"

Karsyn shrugged and kissed Nick softly before dragging him off the stage. I smiled to myself before undoing the box and carefully lifting the cake out. I placed it on the table as Donnie placed the candles on it.

"Anyone got a light?" I asked as Karsyn moved up beside me.

"Oh my god.. Emmi I love it!" She went to hug me, but I stopped her.

"Don't hug me. Hug your man. His doing." I took the lighter that AJ held out to me before lighting the candles. Karsyn was giddy with excitement.

"Aww wow I'm going to have half of the Backstreet Boys and some of New Kids sing me the birthday song."

I laughed before we all started singing the birthday song to her. I won't lie, I mimed half of it. Just hearing those guys sing was awesome. I didn't want to ruin it with my banshee howling.

Karsyn blew her candles out before grabbing a knife from the table and digging it into the cake. "Who wants a slice?"

I chuckled and went to get the bowls I'd got Donnie to bring out as Nick yelled out that he wanted the first piece. I turned around just in time to see Karsyn smash a piece of cake in his face.
