[Karsyn]

Today is the day. Today is the day that I see my new house. Today is the day that Nick finds out I bought the house next to him. Today is the day that Emmileigh goes for an interview to get her visa.

But now I kind of wish it was yesterday again. I guess I wanted to leave North Carolina so bad that when I realized I was actually leaving, I started to miss it a little. We flew back to Charlotte Monday after the cruise went to dock, telling everybody goodbye before doing so. Then we went to the hotel and pretty much slept until yesterday afternoon when we went to my parents to eat and pick up Carter.

Now, I'm sitting in Nick's car with Carter's carrying case in my lap, giving Nick the directions to get from the airport to our houses, only he doesn't know that it's both of our houses. He thinks it's just my house.

"You don't have a bed yet," Nick said as we drove down a highway. "Hell, you don't have any furniture yet."

"We can go shopping tomorrow," I said, looking out at the scenery. I had never been to California before and now apparently I lived here. "Can I stay with you until I do?"

"No."

"Nick!"

"I'm joking, but my dog might not like your cat," he said as I glared at him. "Seriously. You might have to leave the other Carter at your place."

"That's fine," I said, motioning for him to turn down another road. "You stay on this road until you get to the house."

"I live on this road," he said as I kept looking forward. "Where's your house at?"

"I'll tell you right before we get there," I said, trying not to laugh. I kind of wanted to pull my phone out and video his response, but I was afraid it would give it away. "So how long have you been here?"

"At this house? Six months or so, so I haven't really been there," he said. I could see him looking forward at a house and I looked at the house numbers. Mine was right before his.

"Turn in here," I said. "4312."

"What?" Nick asked, pulling into the driveway. "Did we miss it? Because that's my house right there."

"No, this is it," I said, opening the car door. I got out and closed the door, looking inside at Nick who had a confused look on his face. "The lady said she would leave the key in the mailbox this morning."

"What?" Nick asked, getting out of the car in a hurry as I walked up to the front door, carrying Carter's case with me. "What the fuck are you talking about?"

"I'm your new neighbor," I said, turning around to look at Nick who started to laugh. I turned back around, reaching in the mailbox to grab the keys, only to hear him crack up laughing.

"Please tell me this is some kind of joke," he said as I unlocked the front door and heard the alarm system. I walked up to it, punching in the code that I had given her and looked back at Nick as he stood there. "Dude..."

"Dude... this fucking place is too fancy," I said, looking around as Nick walked in, looking around.

"This is for real? You bought the place next to mine?" he asked as I nodded. "That's why you wouldn't tell me."

"And miss the look of shock on your face, hell no," I laughed, walking over to shut the front door. I opened up Carter's case, letting him out. "We need to fix him a litter box." I looked at Nick, who still had a confused look on his face. "Is this a problem? Me getting the house next to yours? What? Can't have your other girlfriends over now?"

"No," he laughed. "I just... when I left, the people that lived here still lived here, so I'm confused."

"Apparently they were leaving and didn't tell you," I said as I started to walk up the stairs. "I hope your penis is working again so we can christen the place!"

[Emmileigh]

Being back home in London was depressing, especially as I was alone. Karsyn was in Malibu, no doubt freaking Nick out with her new place, and Donnie was back in LA, visiting his sons.

It was the first time I had felt totally alone since before Karsyn had won the lottery.

Still, today was the day of my visa interview, and I was completely prepared.

I dressed smartly, wanting to make an impression, and took along all the details of the business Karsyn had set up, even if it was little. I also took my details and everything that they had requested. The only thing that worried me was that
I was flat broke. I had no money behind me to back me up. I was sure they would see that as a sign I shouldnt be granted a visa.
