One day, we'll meet again. And Tommy, I will be waiting for you until then.

It felt good to know that when I passed, I wouldn't be alone. That someone was waiting for me. Someone I loved. My father..
My mother died when I was really young, so it was only my father and I growing up. Well, more like only me. Throughout the second half of my childhood, I was always being moved around. Home to home, family to family. An orphan. Someone who didn't belong, someone who didn't have a home.
My parents, they were still with me, just not. They were here, they were watching me, just from the world above. As stars.
70 years had passed, and I could feel death approaching any second now. But unlike many, I wasn't scared. I knew what was coming. I knew who was coming. I knew that we would meet again.
"Come, just take me," I said laying on my deathbed. I was alone, waiting for my final breath. I wanted to be alone, so when my time came, I wouldn't hurt, or ache to have these people back. So I could embrace the end of my life and the eternity beyond.
"I want to leave. I want to see them again." I was already 90 years old. I had spent more than long enough on this planet, I had left my mark on the world.
"Goodbye world." Those were my final words. The last words I said before I left this planet. Before I left my home.
"Tommy?"
I looked around. It sounded like my mother, but I couldn't see her. I couldn't see anyone or anything.
"Welcome home Tommy." I heard my father, as a new world suddenly opened up. I could see everything. There were other spirits, planets, stars.. I could see the earth, my home. Well, my old home.
"Dad?" I felt like a little kid again. Hurt, unsure, helpless.
"It's okay Tommy, I'm here. I'll always be here for you." It felt reassuring to hear his voice again. It felt good to hear it after so many years.
"Ok." I said in a small voice. Just like the child I was inside.
"See, I told you Tommy, I told you that we would meet again."

(I still have no idea why I did this, but oh well. The song is by The FatRat and I put it cause it inspired me to write this. I know it doesn't really correlate with the story, but I'm always motivated by words or phrases if that makes sense. And if you have any thoughts, questions or feedback, please tell me)
