The Same Road Again

The next morning greeted Taehyung with bright sunlight pouring through the window.

He slowly got out of bed, still feeling a little lazy, and went to freshen up. After that, he headed to the kitchen for breakfast.

Peaceful. Quiet.

For exactly two seconds.

Then out of nowhere, Jungkook appeared, singing loudly as if he were on a concert stage.

Taehyung looked at him with a bored expression. "Stop screaming."

"Holyfu—!" Jungkook jumped. "Hey! You scared me! Why are you here? I thought you weren't home. And by the way, I'm not screaming, I'm singing."

"Yeah," Taehyung said dryly. "And why wouldn't I be at home?"

"Because," Jungkook said, narrowing his eyes, "I thought you already went for your test drive. You always go whenever a brand-new car arrives in the market."

"...Yeah."

"Then why are you still here?"

Taehyung paused, placing his hand on his head.

"I forgot."

Jungkook stared at him like he had just said something unbelievable. "What? You forgot? How?"

"What do you mean how?"

"What do you mean by what do you mean how?" Jungkook shot back. "This is the first time you've ever forgotten th—Ohhh..." his lips slowly curved into a teasing grin. "Now I get it."

Taehyung sighed. "Don't start."

"This is because of that destiny girl," Jungkook continued anyway. "You barely met her and now you're already forgetting things. Wow V!"

"Shut up." Taehyung muttered. "There's nothing like that."

"Yeah," Jungkook smirked. "I can see that."

Taehyung didn't respond.

Arguing with Jungkook was pointless. But...he wasn't completely wrong.

For the first time, Taehyung had forgotten something important. Still, it wasn't too late.

He pushed his chair back and stood up.

"Where are you going?" Jungkook asked.

"For the test drive."

"Okay," he said casually. "I'll be at home."

"Bye."

"Hey, John." Taehyung greeted as he walked in.

"Hey, V."

"Sorry, I'm late."

"Yeah, you are," John said. "And now I can't give you the car for a test drive."

Taehyung frowned. "Why?"

"My boss is already here. You always come before him. Now I can't help."

"Can't you do anything?"

"Sorry, man. But you can go and check the car."

Taehyung sighed. "Alright. Thanks."

He walked further inside to check the car.

And then.

"V!"

Taehyung froze slightly.

That voice.

He turned around.

Jennie.

"Hi, V." she greeted, smiling as she walked toward him.

"Hey," he replied. "What are you doing here? Are you following me?" he said sarcastically.

She laughed. "Well, I could say the same."

At that, he laughed lightly.

"So," he said, "tell me."

"I love cars and I heard there's an arrival of a new model today." she replied. "That's why I'm here."

His eyes instantly lit up. "Wow. I love cars too. And I'm also here for that reason."

"Really?" she smiled. "Then why didn't you tell me that day?"

"What?"

"That you love cars."

He scratched the back of his head. "Just...I forgot to tell."

"Oh," she nodded. "But I really love cars. Since childhood. Most of the time, I used to play with toy cars instead of dolls."

"That's cool."

"I know, right?" she grinned.

A small smile appeared on his face.

"Well," he said, "let's go check it together then."

Her smile widened. "Sure!"

They walked toward the car together.

A brand-new red sports car stood in the center, shining under the lights.

"Wow..." Jennie whispered. "This car is just... wow."

"Yeah," Taehyung said, his voice filled with admiration. "Look at it. It's so beautiful...and I'm sure about its speed."

Instead of the car, Jennie looked at him. He looked different.

Happier.

And somehow...more beautiful.

Taehyung walked out of the showroom and stood outside, waiting for a cab.

He felt good.

But at the same time a little disappointed.

He had missed the test drive.

Just then, a car pulled up right in front of him.

He frowned slightly.

Wait.

This car...It was the same red sports car.

And inside was Jennie.

He stared at her, surprised.

And somehow, he knew this moment wasn't just random anymore.
