(Every night, I lay down in my bed and I think, "Man, I sure wish I was as cool as that guy")

"No fuggin way..." You picked up the cards from the fallen tree log and inspected how the game went.
"All the way toots" Ace grinned, having a drink from a beer bottle.
Theese beers were in the little stock house that you survivors had on your side of the forest. It was a little behind your campfire and you stored extra clothes here, medical components and other items.
Such as theese odd beers. You specificaly found them in the floorboards and only took one. A few days later you opened up the floorboards again, seeing that the crate was full again. You just assumed it was a never ending crate, and that's it. No questions asked.

"No ther- th-" You got stuck on your own words, not beliving that Ace won another card game.
"I told ya, you'll loose" He smirked, looking into his brown bottle.
"Fuck you... another." You slurred lightly, grumping at the cards. You made a little pack and started shuffling them. You didn't shuffle really well, noone ever taught you, you only saw it from Ace.
"You know why I keep winning princess?" He leaned over, pulling his glasses a lower. You wiggled with your head for a no.
"Cuz your shuffling sucks" He said, chuckling quietly.
You grabbed one card from the pack, throwing it at him. It bounced off his blue cap and landed on the ground.
"Yeah well sorry I'm not a damn legend like you" You set the pack of cards down and crossed your arms in grumpiness.
Ace just smiled.
"It's not about being as incredible as I am..." He bent down for the card and then got up from the tree log you two were sitting on.
"It's all about practice and your hands (Y/n)" He said walking to your side.
He got on one knee, grabbing the pack of cards.
"Watch" He said.
"No" You grumpily said, looking away.
"C'mon don't be a brat, I'm trying to teach you somethin' new, so you don't die stupid" Ace said.
It was enough to make you sigh and turn around, looking at his hands.
He gently hit the pack on his open hand, gently letting go of the cards and letting them randomly fall into it. He did this very quickly until all of the cards were neatly shuffled.
"Like that" He said with a warm smile.
"Well how am I supposed to get it, if you're doing it so quick?" You whined.
Ace chuckled, thinking about how he could teach you how to shuffle cards properly.
"Alright, I got an idea" He said after a second.

Ace got up from the ground, and sat behind you, making you imidiately concerned.
"Ace what are you doing"
"Can you just trust me? For once?" Ace asked, a thin line of seriousness behind his warm smile.
"Fine... whatever" You agreed.
Ace squished on your back, actualy making a warm feeling run over you.
Like you were protected. Like noone could touch you.
He placed the end of the card pack in your hand and grabbed your other.
"You can't hold them like a monkey holding a medal" He joked, making you chuckle. He wrapped his big hands around yours and started shaking with the cards.
"You have to gently let go of them..." He started explaining in a hushed, husky tone.
"Distance the pack far enough that you don't stumble over the fallen cards..." You slowly relized you were zoning out, only feeling Ace's deep, rusty voice in your ear and his soft hold on your hands.
"And that's it" A sudden lift in his voice awakens you out of thought along with him getting off your back.
You had a freshly shuffled pack of cards in your hands.

You thought for a bit.
"So... now that I know how to shuffle... how about we make a bet?" You asked, turning around to the sitting Ace.
"Hmm..." He hums. You were sure he wouldn't refuse this offer, he loves bets.
"Ah fine, you got me toots. What's the bet on?" He asks, getting up from his spot so he can sit in front of you.
"I was thinking. What if, we make favor bets!" You excaimed, a little too louder than you actualy wanted.
"Hm... what kinda favors?" Ace asks, getting the last drop from his beer bottle.
"I don't know... like... If you win I clean your boots or something" You chuckled at the idea.
Ace ended up agreeing with a smile. You two shook hands and the game started. You had a good little bunch of cards. A very good bunch.
The game turned out to be surprisingly long. Ace was toying with you, dragging the game on and on. You gave him the seven treatment a lot. Making him pick up two cards very often. He didn't seem to mind it though. Hell, you could say he even enjoyed your silent fireback, usualy cracking a smirk, looking at you through his black sunglasses.
Finnaly, when you were just about thinking of stopping your play, Ace slammed his last card on the thick, tower of cards.

"What?" You said in a sigh. Ace simply chuckled in response.
"Check 'em if you wanna toots, it's all there" He encouraged you. You sighed, setting your cards sadly down. You got up, ready for any mission.
"Fine... what will you have me do?" You asked, crossing your arms on your chest.
Ace simply scooted back on the tree log, and looked at you with a smile.
"I don't think I read you chief" You said, a puzzled expression on your face.
"C'mon, sit in front of me again" He rested back on his hands, his head tilting to the side. Well, you made up this bet and you'll keep your word. You sighed and stepped over the log, sitting in front of Ace, your back to him.
You suddenly felt his chest on your back, that warm feeling circling through you again. He set his head on your shoulder and slowly slithered his arms around your abdomen.
Your hands that were perched on your knees slowly retracted and laid on Ace's.
"Wanna hear something toots?" Ace quietly hummed out.
"Yeah?" You asked, curious on what he has to say.
He lift his hand off your belly and let you look into his sleeve. Several cards were sitting in it. He was a cheater.
"You were actualy winning so-"
His speech was cut off by you pulling his cap down into his eyes, making his glasses drop to the ground.
"Cheater, I'm not playing with you again..." You murmured, crossing your arms with a light smirk while Ace laughed quietly, trying to pull his cap up.
