Jake was always a distant guy. He rather spoke with the nature than the people and any chance he could get, he was in the forests, far from the campfire. Just like now.

You first tried to find him somewhere around the campfire, asking everyone you could. Finnaly, when the noticing Claudette pointed you towards the forest, you went out. The forest around the campfire felt a lot different. It was very cold, as if it was always winter. The trees were all incredibly tall and all dead. There was no sound in the forest, only sometimes a few louder cracks of branches under your feet, and maybe a distant crunch somewhere. There was also the mist. It was very easy to get lost once you enter the forest, but when the black fog rolls up, you're basicaly done for.
As you traveled through this forsaken place, you'd often call out for Jake, compleetly ruining the eerie silence that crept all around you.
You and Jake were close. It was very hard to get to him and so everyone gave up on actualy meeting him close. The new survivors whom the Entity throws in, don't even bother anymore. But you somehow didn't get off his back.
You continued annoying Jake until he actualy told you a bit about himself. You still thought you didn't know everything but at least you knew more than others.

"Jaaake!" You shouted for him again, this time, to get an answer.
"(Y/n)?" The calm voice asked. You imidiately turned to where it was coming from. The stream, obviously. Why didn't you think of that? You trotted over to the place and saw Jake sitting on a rather large boulder, back turned to you.
"Hey Jacko!" You sighed with a grin.
"My name is not Jack, it's Jake" The man corrected you quietly as he continued working on something in his hands. "Yeah sorry... what'cha doin'?" You apologized and imidiately switched the convo. You laid your hands on the boulder and peeked up at his hands. He quickly hid his creation from you.
"Be useful and bring me some sticks please" He said, looking down at you. Jake wasn't a mean guy, he just couldn't say things nice as others do. That's probably another reason why noone talked to him. You gave him a nod with a smile, leaving quickly to find some small sticks.

As you already had a small handfull when you found something quite peculiar. A rather small, abandoned bird nest that was on the ground. You picked it up, inspecting it a little. Maybe Jake would be able to recognize who's it was? You carefuly put it in your pocket and went back to Jake.
"Got your sticks sir" You said enthusiasticaly.
"Thanks" He quietly responded as he imidiately reached down, for you to give him a stick. You gave him one and he imidiately put it into his creation. After a while of this stickening he looked at his thing for a second before he gave it to you. It was a small, stick-built doll. It was surprisingly hard and stiff for a few sticks, it looked like it wouldn't break anytime soon.
"It's you" Jake quietly said.
"That's so cool! Wow, how do you make this?" You asked. turning to him.
Jake sighed, lowering his head, just knowing that he's gonna have to teach it to you now, because you won't stop bothering him otherwise.

He slid down the rock and grabbed a thicker stick.
"You grab a big stick" He said quietly, sitting next to you. "You grab a small stick" Jake grabbed a smaller one and wrapped it around the lower part of the stick. You sat down and leaned on his side to get a better look at the stick building.
"You grab three more and you do the same thing" He wrapped a second stick around, making the stickman have two legs already.
"You try the hands" Jake passed the doll to you. You grabed a stick and very sloppily twisted it around the top part of the thick stick. "No like... more up" Jake grabbed your hand gently and brought the hand sticks more up.

When the arms for the stickman were finnished, Jake made the head from a bunch of tiny sticks, putting it on the body. "There you go" He said quietly, quite proud of teaching something he likes to somebody he likes.
"Something's missing..." You thought before reaching in your pocket and taking out the bird nest. You put it on the stickmans head, making it look like messy hair.
"This you" You grined at jake.
"Why do I have a crow's nest on my head..?" Jake asked.
"Because you do" You reached out to his hair and ran your fingers through the messy hair, ruffling it up.
"Don't do that ever again please"
Jake said, but did nothing to stop you.
"But I like" You protested, still feeling the soft black hair.
"(Y/n), please"
"Only if you get to the campfire with me" You stood on your knees, ruffling his hair more.
"(Y/n). Damn it." Jake cussed, scooting back from you. As much as he protested, he still had a smile on his face. As he scooted back his hand gave up under him and he fell to the floor. You didn't expect it and fell on the hard ground next to him.
You giggled at how stupid this must've looked. You even saw Jake grin, which is a rarity.

"We should get back, I think the fog is getting into our heads" You sighed with a smile still on your lips.
"Yeah... sure" Jake got up, dusting himself off. He helped you up, and you both walked back to the campfire, leaving the two stick figures next to each other, holding hands on the ground.
