The group rode across the rather large lake on the ice raft, making it to the other side several minutes later. Brother of the Arctic Wind held the raft steady as everyone climbed off before letting drift back into the lake.

"There's a cave just over there where we can take refuge. While the Windigos can't follow us across the lake the storm itself can, so we'll have to wait it out," Shadow said, pointing at the jagged mountain peaks with their horn.

"Let's get going then. I'm ready to get out of the fucking cold," snorted Remus, Brother taking the lead once again as the group trotted across the snow covers tundra to the mountain side.

They made it there rather quickly, all huddling inside the rather spacing cave as Brother stood near the entrance. His horn began to glow like the bright colors that would dance in the northern sky on the darkest nights and the cave's entrance was soon sealed shut by a thick layer of blue and white ice.

"That'll protect us from the wind," said Shadow as Brother trotted over next to them.

"Can we start a fire or something? It's still cold in here and I can barely see a thing," whined Roman.

Brother let out a laugh that boomed and echoed around the cave, causing many of them to flinch as their ears were suddenly much more sensitive than they were as humans.

"If you can't see then look over at those two Lunars. What, with their glowing eyes we should be fine," laughed Brother as he raised a large hoof to point at both Nightingale and Virgil.

"What do you mean, 'with their glowing eyes'? Eyes don't glow," Virgil said before looking over at everyone.

Roman and Remus both gasped and skittered back, surprised at what they saw. Logan was astonished while Janus just stared with his mouth hanging open. Poor Patton was too cold to react, huddled up next to Remus to continue stealing his warmth.

"What're you all staring at?" Virgil asked, raising an eyebrow at them.

"Virgil, your eyes are, in fact, glowing. Brighter than any star in the sky," answered Logan, too mesmerizing by Virgil's eyes. Originally they were a deep purple with flecks of indigo and silver. Now they glowed with the same brightness of a full moon, the color a light periwinkle mixed with lavender then woven together with some silver.

"What?!" Virgil looked over at a nearby icicle where his glowing pupils stared back at him.

"What the fuck?!"

"Oh quit your fit. Yes, Lunar unicorns' eyes glow. It's to help with our night vision and to intimidate any trespassers. It's also used for communications with our other herds and sometimes for mating," Nightingale cut in, his own emerald green eyes glowing just as brightly, if not brighter, than Virgil's. Remus snickered, most likely from the fact that the glow could be used for mating, many ideas and thoughts popping into his deranged mind.

"Now, as for the fire," continued Nightingale.

"Ah, yes. I'll get some wood. The Voltage unicorn can create the fire," said Shadow, trotting away farther into the cave.

"U-uhm, I-I d-don't kn-know h-ho-ow t-t-t-to mak-k-ke a-a f-f-fir-re," stuttered Patton when he saw Shadow point at him. He was still shaking with his teeth chattering, Remus doing what he could to help Patton keep warm.

"How can you not? Isn't a spark spell one of the first you learn?" asked Brother as Shadow returned with almost freeze-dried looking wood.

"He hasn't been trained yet," answered Nightingale, stepping forwards and kneeling next to the timbers. He closed his glowing green eyes and his horn glistened, the sound of a match scrapping the box sounding before silver sparks leaped from Nightingale's horn, setting the timbers on fire and filling the cave with the crackles, fizzles, and pops of the flames.

"Amazing. I never knew Lunars could make fire. I thought it was either for your daytime brethren Solar unicorns or the Voltage unicorns," breathed Brother.

"It's Silver Fire, a highly advanced spell only for those who's magic levels exceed the average amount. Like me and my- my sister," Nightingale explained, pausing before he said sister.

Logan frowned slightly. Nightingale never mentioned having a sister. In fact, he's never mentioned anything about himself. Meanwhile Fynn had figuratively talking their ears off on their trip up to the northern region. Fynn told them so much Logan could probably write a book about Fynn's life, with nearly every single second catalogued. While an exaggeration it was a rather accurate one, to Logan at least. He wondered what else Nightingale never told them, or what he's hiding.

Speaking of him, Fynn slowly walked over to Nightingale with a guarded, but worried expression on his face. He rubbed his muzzle on the larger unicorn's leg, Nightingale jolting at the contact, but upon seeing it was only Fynn he relaxed.

Patton was immediately by the fire once lit, sighing happily as he absorbed the heat flowing off the silver flames.

"So, now that we've been acquainted and we're safe, care to tell us why two Lunar unicorns, two Aqua unicorns, two Geode unicorns, a Voltage unicorn and a Southern Boreal unicorn are traveling together in the northern most parts of the land?" Brother asked as he and Shadow laid down, away from the fire as they most likely didn't need it, Logan himself already feeling hot even though he was several feet away from the flames.

"Yes, I will explain," said Nightingale, laying down as well with the rest following close behind.

"Logan over there needs to learn some magic from actual Boreal unicorns. He hasn't been trained, none of them have been, excluding me and Fynn. We are to be traveling around these lands to find someone willing to train all six of them so they have basic magic knowledge," the black Lunar unicorn explained, the two Northern Boreal unicorns nodding.

"I see. Well we'd be happy to teach our kindred. Then we'll be able to grant him with his name once his training is completed. I'm assuming you wish to leave within a few days?" said Shadow, Nightingale nodding.

"We hope to leave after seven days. Will that be enough time?"

"More than enough. We start tomorrow kindred," declare Brother.

"Uh oh Logan. Looks like the teacher has become the student," laughed Roman, Remus laughing as well.

Logan ignored them and the burning sensation in his ear tips. He was actually excited to learn about these lands and their magic. Here's hoping that he'll be a fast learner and leave a good impression on these two steeds.

Oof, y'all are learning so much in these past two chapters and y'all'll be learning even more in up coming chapters. Sure hope y'all're taking notes

You also got some backstory/foreshadowing for Nightingale's past. Who's this sister he never mentioned? Is she important? Why is Nightingale so closed off to everyone? Why does Fynn, an Aqua unicorn, hang around Nightingale, a Lunar unicorn?

So many questions and yet only I know the answer. Have fun theorizing, if y'all even to that.
