The group of eight ended up staying in The Herd of Drifting Ice for the seven days, Shadow leaving to their own herd the second day. During this time Logan was trained not only by Brother, but by Sif, Hollow Cry, Flower, and sometimes Glory. He learned quickly and was soon mastering every spell, every charm, and every enchantment, though he never found out what this Gift of Flight was.

By the evening of the last day Hollow Cry said Logan was ready to receive his traditional name. So, the herd gathered and it was presented to him. From then on the herd addressed him as Star who Roams in Mystery, or Star. He took great pride in his accomplishment, as did his friends, Patton and Roman repeatedly congratulating him and sometimes calling him Star as a reminder. The others were happy for him as well, but weren't as eccentric as Patton or Roman, though Remus was getting there.

Logan wasn't the only one who got his knew traditional name, though. The fifth day they were there Virgil had come trotting over to him after training with Nightingale looking perplexed. When Logan asked him what was on his mind Virgil said; "Nightingale told me that I didn't have the magic of a Sage, which was no surprise since he said Sage magic was incredible rare, but he said that if the Lunar Empire still stood I'd probably be a soldier, given my 'need to protect those closest to me'. His words, not mine, but he also said he'd name me Elm."

Logan found interesting since his research told him the elm tree represented intuition and inner strength. Definitely fit Virgil.

Virgil also added something that made them both laugh, yet was terrifying to think about. That something was; "Also apparently Lunar unicorns are all necromancers."

The seven days passed and the group had to bit The Herd of Drifting Ice farewell, much to the disappointment of Flower, Peak (Flower's fillyfriend), Fynn, Patton, Roman, and Remus, who all had become, or made, great friends within the herd. But they had to keep going, with tearful goodbyes since unicorns could, in fact, cry tears of emotions. (Logan had learned this after Patton accidentally kicked a Sif bird and started balling, thinking he killed the animal. The bird was fine, just stunned. It got up a minute later, much to Patton's relief.)

They only managed to persuade them to part ways with Hollow Cry saying; "Your paths might cross again, and then we can go on like no one ever left." That seemed to satisfy everyone enough for Nightingale to drag them all away.

So the group was then journeying through the northern arctic tundra, the temperature getting warmer the more they traveled south, as they were getting closer to the center of the continent.

"So where are we going?" Roman asked as they trotted through the freshly fallen snow.

"As much as I hate to say it, we need to stop in the Solar Kingdom capital of Aurous to resupply. Then we'll be going to Crystal Cove Bay and Twisted Tree Woods where we'll find the Aqua to teach Janus. After that we'll head to the mountains to find some Geode unicorns, then the Silver Desert to find Voltage tribes. That ought to take a month or two and then we'll think about what to do next. For now we need to get to the outer edge of the tundra," answered Nightingale, both him and Fynn noticeably perking up at the mention of Crystal Cove Bay and Twisted Tree Woods.

"Sounds good," said Janus.

"Sounds great! Are we going to be able to make more friends? Because everyone in The Herd of Drifting Ice was so nice. I guess you could say they were nIce," Patton giggled, getting a Janus eye roll, a groan from Logan and Nightingale, and laughter from the twins plus Fynn (Virgil chuckled to himself).
