Jess sighed as she backed out of the staff room , her stethoscope hanging from her neck. She had , had a hectic day , a bunch of work had been placed on her when one of the older colleagues had called in sick , and with her being the second most experienced in nursing.
Never the less , the girl had completed all her work and she was now on her lunch brake at 7pm. As the girl took a slow walk down the corridors , she popped in to a room every now and then saying hello to some of the older people that were long term in the hospital.
"Fuck sake.." Jess chuckled as she heard a small mutter from the corridor to the left of her , turning to see a man hitting one of the vending machines lightly.
The girl smiled smally , moving forward , reaching into her pocket.
"Well , what has that ever done to you?" The girl spoke causing the man to jump away from the vending machine , a nervous smile on his face.
"I-I-" "I'm playing around , these things don't work too often , which drink did you want?" The girl spoke as she pulled keys out of her pocket , beginning to open the machine.
"Umm , a dr pepper please." The man was polite with his words making Jess surprised , usually people were rude , it's London for gods sake.
Jess pulled the drink out , shutting the door before looking to the boy , smiling. "Here you go."
The boy smiled , reaching out for the can of drink only for his hand to start violently shaking.
"Are you alright sir?" Jess spoke , noticing how badly the boy was shaking.
"I got into a car crash a few months ago , none of the doctors I've seen know why my hands keep shaking." The boy spoke bringing his hand down and his other one up , grabbing the drink. "Thank you by the way."
"I could do a few tests if you want? To try and help you." The girl spoke , a worrying tone slipping through her voice.
Josh looked to the girl , becoming slightly scared as he realised the girl spoke in quite a worried way. "Why , c-could it be something bad?"
"I just want to make sure it's not and if it is , we found it early on meaning we can get it gone quicker." Jess gave a warm smile , reassuring the boy.
Josh glanced down to the Dr Pepper in his hands sighing before looking up to the girl , "okay, but only if I can get a Dr Pepper every time."
Jess laughed out , nodding her head before pulling her phone out of her pocket , opening it and going to her calendar.
"When are you free?" The girl asked as she looked at her days she worked. "Anytime," the boy spoke , glancing back to his friends when they called for him. "Could I get your number so I can be in contact?" Jess spoke , looking to the boys friends as they approached , passing him her phone.
"Joshhhh , you picking up the nurses, god damnnnnn," one of his friends spoke as the boy began to type his number in the girls phone.
Jess chuckled , shaking her head as josh handed her phone back. She gave the boy a smile , nodding to his friends before her colleague called for her , "Jess! We got a cardiac arrest!"
The girls eyes widened as she shoved her phone in her pocket , "stay safe josh!"
