first minute

i've always seen this in the movies. the character gets shot and they bleed. but i've never been in a situation like this.

the blood pumped out of my leg faster than my brain could keep up with. kingsman appeared in the corner of my eye with a belt and a long sleeve shirt.

"ouch shit" i say in pain.

kingsman had wrapped the long sleeve shirt around my leg where the bullet had hit me. he tied it so tight it hurt like a bitch. he then placed the belt slightly above the gunshot wound and tied it even tighter.

"we gotta slow down the blood flow in your leg. i don't remember where the hell your femoral artery is in your leg but if that bullet hit it, you're gonna bleed to death." he said.

second minute

he slung my arm over his shoulder and started to carry me and walk us to the exit.

we heard a loud sound boom through the hallways making both of us try to run faster.

but this i was really not expecting and in fact this is exactly what i didn't want to happen.

ethan and grayson, along with the rest of the wranglers shot their way through the door. blaine was obviously aware of what was happening but now he's got two things to worry about.

third minute

my vision starts to blur and i feel weaker and weaker.

"alex!" i hear, but it sounds like ethan is at the other end of a tunnel.

"alex stay with me" he says. "open your eyes!" i force my eyes to open, as i see ethan kneeling down in front of me.

fourth minute

blaine comes into sight behind ethan and i give all of my energy to warn him. every thing i had left in me

"blaine.." i said before ethan turned around.

he raised a gun to ethans head and my eyes closed.

boom.

-

the femoral artery is the largest artery in the leg. this supply's nearly all the blood flow to the thigh and most of the human leg.

it is found wrapping from behind the back of the thigh, to the bottom of the leg. it is the continuation of the iliac artery.

if severed in any way, the victim would have approximately five minutes until the body bleeds out, causing immediate death.

each minute the victim becomes less and less conscious, until the body gives up. the puncturing, slicing, severing, nicking, etc, of the femoral artery is in most cases fatal.

if applied, pressure can slow the bleeding enough to catch a few extra life saving minutes.

lucky for me, kingsman had applied as much pressure as he could in this situation.

-

my eyes open slowly, as the light pours into my eyes. i automatically squint, not being used to the brightness.

it takes me a minute to be able to move my head to the side to see where the hell i am. i only move a little to be able to see i'm in a hospital room.

what the hell happened?

in the chair next to me is a sleeping kingsman and grayson who was reading a book.

"grayson" i try to get the word out but my voice isn't working. it came out as a whisper and i barely finished the word.

but it was enough to catch his attention.

he nudged kingsman to wake him up before walking over to me.

"alex thank god you woke up." he said before pausing. "we didn't know if you were going to survive." he said quietly.

"what...happened" i try with the very minimal energy and use i have in my body.

"you were shot in the leg. the bullet nicked your femoral artery, almost severing completely. you passed out just under five minutes after." he explained painfully.

i slowly tried to move my head to look down at my leg but it was much harder than i had expected.

"you lost almost 60% of your blood. you went into shock and your heart stopped beating. technically you were dead for a few minutes. they brought you back but you were in a coma." he explained.

i furrowed my eyebrows in total confusion as i'm still looking at my leg. i can clearly tell which one was shot, but my brain isn't letting me do anything.

i finally turned my head back to grayson.

"how long?" i spoke in a struggled whisper.

"it's been 2 weeks." he said. my eyes slightly widened as my eyebrows furrowed.

two weeks? that's a long time....

"you stayed...thank you" i struggled.

"of course. i'm here for you always." he says placing his hand onto my hand. i try to grab his hand but it's a struggle. i use all the brain power i have to shakily try and grab his hand.

i don't have much muscle use. that's not good.

"why is it so hard to...move" i barely get the words out looking from my hand back up to grayson.

"the doctors said that while you're getting your body running back to normal, the effects of your technical death were pretty serious." he paused and took a deep breath. "you lost a lot of brain cells, along with muscle mobility because of the blood loss. they'll have to test you to see all the effects, but as of right now let's just try to stay awake." he says seriously.

"wheres ethan?" i ask. grayson face goes pale.

oh no.
