Chapter 11

Ski

"Ski! Faster!" Coach yelled. I rolled my eyes and started to skate faster. "Alright stop!" Coach yelled. We all went to him and kneeled. "Ski, get over here. Now." Coach snapped.

I looked at Adam. He shrugged. I looked back and skated over to him. "Did you roll your eyes when I asked you to go faster?" I just stared at him. "Answer me, son." He demanded. I took off my helmet.

"Even through I'm on an all boys team, I'm a girl, not a boy. So if you don't mind, don't call me that." I snapped.

"Ski." I heard Adam yell-whisper at me. I looked at him. He shook his head lightly. I looked back at Coach.

"Laps. Now." He said.

"How many?" I said in a mean way.

"I didn't tell you yet." He said. I have him a dirty look, then skated backwards over to the wall, then started to do my laps. I put my helmet on and snapped it in.

Only if I could be on a different team.

This is an amazing team, just... it's Coach. I don't like him. And I know he doesn't like me. The thing is he can't get rid of me and Adam because we are both the best players on the team, he even told us that. I looked over and I saw Alex staring at me. I looked back.

Why does it have to be me?

"Okay Ski, come back." Coach said. I skated over to him. "You're done for today. Now go in and get dressed." Coach said. I shot him a confused look.

"What? Practice isn't over." I said.

"I know. You're done though." He said.

"You can't do that!" I yelled.

"Yes, I can. Go in the locker room, get dressed, and wait for you twin to get done with practice." He said.

I didn't say anything. I just left. Why does he hate me? Is it because I'm the only girl on this team? What is going on?

"Ski, calm down!" Adam yelled. I was pacing the family room floor.

"Why would he do that?! He can't do that! Right? I can't stand Coach." I said. I finally sat down on the chair by the couch.

"It's okay, Ski. You're just gonna have to deal with him for one more year. He's retiring next year and we're getting a new coach." Adam said. I nodded.

"Alright... Fine." I said. Then, the phone rang. I picked it up and put it up to my ear. "Hello?"

"Hey is Adam there?" Someone with an Austrian accent. I knew it was James Stafford.

He is another player from our team, and he's the oldest. He was from Australia but adopted and became an American citizen.

"Yeah. Here he is." I said. I handed the phone to Adam. He mouthed "who is this" to me.

"James." I whispered. He nodded and took the phone.

"Hey Stafford..... Yeah...... What?...... Dude, I'm sorry...... Yeah...... Wow....... Really?..... Man........ Yeah...... Okay....... We'll be there in ten minutes..... Bye." Adam said. He hung up the phone an started to get up.

"Woah what happened? That was a thirty second convocation." I said.

"Get ready." Adam said quickly. I looked at him with a confused look.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh and call Courtney too please." Adam said. I got up from the chair.

"Woah Adam, what's going on?" I asked.

"Look, James girlfriend broke up with him and he wants to go out tonight but I want it to be a double date." He said.

"Wait. You want me to go be James's date?" I asked.

I mean, I don't care, he's pretty cute.

"And have Courtney as mine." Adam said. I rolled my eyes.

"Fine. But I get to use your TV in your room anytime I want for a month." I said.

"Fine. Get ready and call Courtney." He said.

"Fine." I sat back down on the chair and picked up the phone. I put in Courtney's number.

"Hello?" I heard Courtney say.

"Hey Courtney, its Ski." I said. Then I heard a cough in the background.

"Hi what's up?" She asked.

"Are you free right now?" I asked.

"Sorry. My dad's sick and I need to take care of him. I can't go anywhere." She said. I sighed.

"Alright. Take care of your dad. I'll see you later." I said.

"Okay bye." Then I hung up.

"Adam!" I yelled. Adam came running in with his Hawks shirt and boxers. "Wow, you need pants." I said.

"Shut up. Did you call her?" He asked.

"Yeah, but she can't come. How about Saby?" I asked.

Saby has the biggest crush on Adam. She would love me forever if I hook her up with him.

"Fine. I'll be in my room." Adam said. Then he walked away.
