I walk down the small isles. Cain plays with Lilith's paci as I look for the things we need. "Momma who's that man?" Cain asks me. I turn around, noticing a man behind us but far enough away for him to not hear.

"I'm sure it's just a person, Cain. Don't talk about people." I tell him. He keeps looking so I turn down a different isle. Lilith looks at me from her car seat, smiling.

I smile at her then stop, grabbing some chips off the shelf. As I turn around I notice the man still behind us, this time a little closer. I ignore him and walk pass. He smiles at me, I do so too, trying to be friendly.

I stop farther down and get some salsa. Cain continues to look at the man.

I hurry to get everything else I needed from that isle. Something just seems off about that man. I go to the next isle, grabbing some snacks for Cain. His favorite are gushers.

"How old are they?" I jump at the sound of the mans voice. It sounds familiar, but not like I've met him. I turn around and smile. What am I supposed to do? Answer? Not answer?

"Um," I stutter, "He's three and she is just about to be two months old." I turn back around and continue shopping.

"They're adorable." He continues.

"Thank you," I laugh nervously.

"Your husband must be really proud." He tells me, following close behind me.

"He is." I tell him smiling. My hands begin to sweat as I notice that he won't leave.

"Where is he now?"

Lie. "He's getting some diapers."

"Is there any chance that his name is Colby?" I stop dead in my tracks. How does this man know that?

"I'm sorry, who are you?" I didn't sound rude, but I wish I did. I want him to leave us alone.

"I'm Colby's dad." He tells me. I look up at him. I can see it. But why is he here? Why is he following me? He left Colby a long time ago. "And I know he's not here with you."

My heart pounds. What is he attempting to do?

"Well he knows where I am and I really need to get going now." I begin to walk away from him.

"It was nice seeing you." He calls out.

I shutter as I quickly walk to the check out. I can come back for whatever else I need, with Colby.

I finish what I had to do. Cain questions need all the way to the car about who he was and why I was scared. I didn't want to tell him, he would be too excited and try to know him. He doesn't need to know him, he's a bad man.

"Momma, who was he!" Cain demands. I huff.

"Cain, stop! I told you he's just a stranger." I yell at him. Lilith starts crying. I put my hand on my face as I bring my attention back to the road.

Colby is standing outside with Corey when we get home. They of course have some random big ass ball pit in our front yard. I roll my eyes and park.

"Hey baby!" He smiles as he opens my door. He kisses my cheek, then goes around to get Cain. I get out and walk over to Lilith's side, picking her up from her carseat.

"Colby, we need to talk later." I tell him. He turns his head to me. "You're not pregnant again are you?" He asks quietly. I laugh and shake my head no. I glance over at Corey, who was distracted. "It's about your dad." I whisper. His eyebrows furrow and he nods. He puts Cain down, who runs over to Corey. Colby grabs all the groceries and hurries inside.

I look over to Corey and Cain, "Go ahead I got him!" Corey yells to me. I nod and grab what I can with Lilith in my arms.

I take them inside, Colby and Sam are in the kitchen putting things up. I sit the bags down, then walk over to Lilith's rocker and strap her in.

"Sam could you keep an eye on her?" Colby asks him. He nods and smiles, coming over to Lilith. He begins to tickle her belly, making baby noises at her. I laugh and roll my eyes.

We walk up to our bedroom. Colby haunts the door behind us. "What happened?" He asks me.

I sit on the bed, "I saw him." His eyes widen.

"When? Where? How did you-"

"He was following me while I was getting groceries. Cain pointed him out."

"Did he talk to you? What did he say?" He sits beside me.

"I didn't know who he was and he finally started asking question. About the kids, about my boyfriend." I sigh.

"Did you tell him anything?" He asks with a worried expression.

"He asked the kids age, I didn't think anything of it. Then he asked if you were my boyfriend. I didn't say yes or no, because he already knew. He knew you weren't with me, Colby." He frowns and hugs me, kissing my head. "I mean I'm okay, it just freaky that he went out his way. How did he even know who I was?"

"I don't know, but it won't happen again. Promise." He lets go of me.

It's a tough subject for him. His dad ruined him. He still gets scared thinking about him and his childhood. Colby doesn't have any family except for me and the kids now. He hasn't seen or talked to his mom since before Cain was born. He doesn't seem too affected but I know he has to be.

"Colby!" Corey yells from downstairs. We both get up and walk down the stairs. Corey is holding Cain beside the front door. "Someone's outside for you." Corey yells him. His eyebrows furrow and he looks at me.

Colby opens the front door, his dad is standing in front of the door, swaying in his spot. Colby's fist tightens, I walk beside him, putting my hand on his arm. "What are you doing here?" Colby asks him.

"Just coming to see my little boy," he smiles. Colby rolls his eyes. He goes to step out but I follow him. He gives me a lot, telling me to go back in. I ignore him. He rolls his eyes again and shuts the door.

"What are you doing here?" Colby asks again.

"I told you, just coming to see you." His dad said again.

"Why? After how many years? You just think you can walk up and come into my life again?!" Colby yells at him. I put my hand on his, trying to calm him down.

His dads smile drops, "Calm down," he chuckles. "I followed your girlfriend home to come see you. That's some cute kids you have in there." He nods to the door.

"Can you just go? I don't want what you here. I don't want you around them." Colby tells him harshly.

"Colby," I say quietly.

"No, Amara, he knows what he did to me. He knows I don't want him here. He's not here out of curiosity. He wants something." Colby is increasingly getting angrier by the second.

His dad sighs and throws his arms up, "I'll leave. If you need me I left my number on your windshield." He starts to turn around, "By the way, I know a couple people who are willing to pay big money for a little girl and a little boy." He smirks. Colby tried to throw a punch but I hold his arm. "It's not worth it Colby," I whisper to him. He puts his arm down, his dad finally walks out our driveway.

Colby pushes me off him and storms inside. I sigh and rub my eyes. He's never going to get over this. I open the front door and walk in. Colby's holding Cain close to him, hugging him tightly. I close my eyes, putting my head down. I open them and walk over to Colby and Cain, kissing Cain's head before hugging them both. "It'll be okay," I whisper in Colby's ear. He nods and kisses my head.
