Still Together

A MONTH after the meeting, we were given a month to prepare. I took a week of leave since I also want to spend some time in Canada, with Tita Em and some of my friends there. We were instructed that we will stay there in Canada for 3 days, our plane ticket, food, and hotel accommodation were paid by the university.

"Good morning ma'am!" The flight attendant greeted me, I gave her my ticket and she immediately escorted me to my seat.

I was quite devastated since the university gave me a window seat. Feeling ko kasi masusuka ako kapag naupo ako sa window seat. But I don't have a choice. the seat beside me was still unoccupied, I should just ask the person kung willing siyang mag exchange seats.

"Hi, excuse me," I got the attention of the other FA. I asked her where the restroom is at sinamahan naman nito ako kaagad. 

When I went out of the restroom, I smiled at the FA, thanking her for escorting me.

I felt the world stop spinning when I saw the person sitting beside my seat, he was reading the brochure with his one hand and when he looked up, our eyes met, everything slowed down as if we were in a movie.

With my heart beating so fast, I started walking. As if he knows I was the one sitting beside him, he stood up and he let me pass through so that I can sit.

"Thank you," I softly said and received a smile from him.

I plug in my earphones and listened to some songs while I try to sleep. I shifted to every comfortable position but I just can't sleep.

Annoyed, I removed my earphones and stared blankly at the seat in front of me.

"Are you uncomfortable on that seat?" I jumped on my seat when I heard him talking, I thought he was sleeping or maybe he woke up because of me.

It took me a minute or two to answer him. "Yes," I whispered.

"Do you want to exchange seats with me?" He asked calmly like it wasn't a bother to him.

My face lit up after he asked that. I nod for multiple times, earning him a chuckle.

He stood up, bringing along with him his laptop, then followed by me. When we took a seat, I let out a sigh. A sigh of relief. Finally!

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Local time is 7:22 in the evening and the temperature is 4°C, with highs of 8°C and lows of 1°C on average. For your safety and comfort, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until the Captain turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign. This will indicate that we have parked at the gate and that it is safe for you to move about. Please check around your seat for any personal belongings you may have brought on board with you and please use caution when opening the overhead bins, as heavy articles may have shifted around during the flight. If you require deplaning assistance, please remain in your seat until all other passengers have deplaned. One of our crew members will then be pleased to assist you. On behalf of Eminent Airlines and the entire crew, I'd like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you onboard again in the near future. Have a nice stay!"

After hours of flying, we had finally landed.

I buttoned my coat. Coming to Canada in December you should bring a lot of winter coats. We're still here at the airport, waiting for the van that's going to drive us to our hotel. Nakihalubilo naman ako sa ibang kasama namin. Good thing they're all friendly. Nang makarating na kami sa hotel ay agad ako nag shower para maghanda matulog. My body is too tired to even eat dinner.
