Take You Home

I JUST found myself wiping my tears on this narrow cubicle. Kanina pa ako umiiyak dito, I don't even know kung may nakarinig ba sa akin o wala, at kung meron man, I don't even care anymore. After that talk with Mommy La parang may humaplos sa puso ko at hindi ko na napigiling umiyak.

After calming myself down, I went out of the cubicle, expecting that the restroom would be empty.

"So, you were invited?" It was Steff. She was washing her hands on the sink but she was staring at me through the mirror.

I stopped for a second but I managed to regain from it. Naglakad ako at tumabi sa kaniya ng tayo. I was looking at my reflection, I noticed that my lipstick was a little smudged so I applied another layer, not throwing any stares at Steff.

"You were alive after all," she scoffed. "Sayang lang pala ang binayad ni Dad sa... "

I wasn't able to hear what she said after because someone used the flush. When the woman went out of the cubicle, she stepped back and immediately went out of the restroom when she saw Steff's glare.

"What did you say?" I asked, I don't know why my heart just started beating so fast, my palms are sweating drastically.

Binalingan ulit nito ako ng tingin sa salamin. A smirked slipped out from her lips which made me feel unsafe. Humakbang ako paatras nang nilingon na nito ako.

"Nothing, I'm glad you're alive,"

It wasn't sincere. She said those words in a sarcastic tone like she wished I died years ago.

And in a minute, I just found myself trembling and shaking in so much fear. She already left after that. Memories from the accident came flashing back.

Nagmamadaling lumabas ako ng restroom at kaagad hinanap si Caitto. I need to leave as soon as possible. Lakad takbo na ang ginawa ko para lang makarating sa table na inuupuan ni Caitto kanina.

I uttered a curse when I saw him dead drunk. Oh right, he participated in a game earlier at sa tingin ko ay naparami ito ng inom. He said he would bring me home, what now? Hindi ko pa naman nadala ang sasakyan ko.

"Caitto," I gently tapped his cheeks, trying to wake him up.

Pilit na inimulat nito ang talukap ng kaniyang mata. I rolled my eyes in frustration.

"Ate Erin," I looked back when I heard someone called my name, it was Caitto's brother.

"Carl! Thank god! Hetong kuya mo nag promise sa akin na ihahatid ako pauwi and look at him," I pointed at Caitto who's now leaning his forehead on the edge of the table. "He's dead drunk,"

Tumawa lang ang kapatid nito at inakay patayo ang lasing na kapatid. "Can you wait for 5 minutes, ate? Ako nalang maghahatid sayo, I'll just bring this guy to his room,"

Wala sa sariling tumango ako at naisipang lumabas nalang ng venue para doon hintayin ang kapatid ni Caitto. I looked up to the night sky and there were no stars.

Uulan pa yata.

Lumampas na ang limang minuto pero walang ni anino ni Carl ang lumabas. Nilalamig na rin ako dahil sa ihip ng hangin, idagdag mo pa na open ang likod ng dress ko.
