I tried so hard to ignore him the next day but he just always catches up. He tried to keep on talking to me and apologizing every time we have a class together, which is almost all of them. It almost drove me insane but it was kinda nice, you know, getting along for once, even though he could get on my nerves still every now and then, but he wasn't even being a complete jerk so I guess he was alright.
"Hey!" Logan greeted as I closed my locker, frightening me. "Pissing hell" I muttered before glaring at him. He smiled awkwardly "Sorry, did I scare you?" he asked, scratching the back of his neck. I sighed "You tell me," I said, facing him "I'm sorry" he replied. "It's alright. And I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have snapped" I sighed, struggling to clutch my books into my chest. "Want me to carry those for you?" he asked me, pointing to the things in my arms. I immediately shook my head. "No, no, it's fine, I could handle it." I quickly said as I started to walk to my first class.
I heard his footsteps coming towards me which made me panic because I really did not want to deal with him so early in the morning. But thanks to my natural clumsy self, I tripped on my own two feet. Preparing myself from the impact, I closed my eyes and gripped on my books. "Whoa! Easy there" I heard Logan chuckle as he grabbed my waist. "Thanks," I said, turning my head towards my left where he was. For a few seconds, we stared at each other.
What... the... hell... is... happening...
He then let go of me before grabbing my stuff. "Okay, I am taking these before you make yourself fall again," he said, grinning at me. I nervously laughed as we started to walk side by side. Once we reached my class, he stopped me to give me back my things. "Here you go," he said. I thanked him then realized the time. He only had one minute left and I don't even know how far his class is. My eyes widened at him. "You know you really didn't have to do this, you're going to be late," I told him, furrowing my eyebrows. He smiled and shook his head "It's fine. Besides, I wanted to." he replied before the bell rang.
"Now go inside, you'll be late too" he grinned. "See you later, nerd!" he called out, running to his first class. I bit my bottom lip and shook my head while chuckling. I went inside and saw Ellie sitting at the back. She smirked as I sat next to her. "Was that Logan I heard outside?" she asked, leaning towards me. I glanced and shrugged. "So what if it is him?" I said, opening a book.
Our teacher has started talking, saving me from answering questions from Ellie. "We're talking later" she whispered to me, making me sigh. The class ended and once the bell rang, I quickly stood up to get out of that room. But Ellie, that girl is way too fast.
"You are not going anywhere" she gripped my arm causing me to groan. I remained silent while we walked towards our second class together. We arrived and saw one of Logan's friends. I think his name was Chris?
"Hey, Chris" Ellie greeted him. We made our way towards him and sat with him. I was in between them so I'm guessing they're going to bombard me with questions. "Did you know Logan escorted Angel to her first class today?" she told him with a sly smirk on her lips. Chris's jaw dropped. "He finally did it?" he asked. I looked at him confusingly. "I don't know, he's your friend, not mine. And since when did you guys get so close?" I questioned them, opening up my book in preparation for the upcoming class.
"We all have been talking back and forth for a while now. You know, trying to get our two friends to be in peace?" Ellie answered, leaning on her table. "I still cannot wrap my mind around the fact that our very own friends set us up with this compatibility project" I commented, shaking my head. "It's for unity! And peace. Don't you want to get along?" Chris asked me. I shrugged. "Maybe. I mean it would be nice if he wasn't a jerk all the time" I mumbled. "Then give him a chance. He's been quite different from the past few weeks, you have no idea. I know it'll take some time for him to fully change, but he really is trying." he explained to me. I stared at him and smiled tightly.
For the rest of the day, I could not get what Chris said out of my mind. Seriously this is the third time he has done that. I'm still very doubtful about everything. Because I don't want the same thing to happen as last time. I've always been so closed off and Jack... he brought me out of my shell. But after he did what he did, it seems like I've returned to who I was before Jack. I don't want to be able to go out one day and then suddenly go back being alone in my own little space.
Logan and I have exchanged words every now and then but I tried to keep them short because it was still very weird for us not to banter. During lunch, his group sat with us and it was awkward. For the two of us, at least. The rest seems fine. After that, we had a few more hours of school before the day ends. All of my classes after lunch are with Logan.
Yay.
Once the final bell rang, I stood up and quickly went to my locker so I could organize it. I opened it and placed my books on the bottom first. I took out my phone and texted the rest that I won't be walking home with them. They acknowledged it then I proceeded to fix up my locker. "Knock knock" I heard a voice say with a knocking sound. I turned around and saw Logan with a nervous smile.
I smiled softly at him. "Hey," I said. He leaned on the lockers next to mine. He nodded in response. We were silent for a while as I take things out and putting them back. He stared to help me and grab things that are on the way and then giving them to me so I could put them in the right place. "Are you ignoring me?" he asked, breaking the silence. I pressed my lips together "Well, not exactly" I muttered, not turning to him. "Look, I know this is could be very confusing for you, but I really want to get to know you more. Just please, give me the chance to prove it to you" he pleaded, facing me.
I finally looked him in the eyes. He seemed sincere but I'm still feeling a little hesitant. I sighed as I closed my locker. "Look, I understand. I just need a little bit more time. I appreciate how you're trying, and I hope you continue. Just not right now" I said, smiling a little. He gave me a half-hearted smile before nodding. We started to walk towards the exit and once we got out, he stopped me by putting his hand on my shoulder.
"Want a ride home?" he asked. I shook my head. "Nah, I'll just walk. Thanks though. Maybe next time?" I said. He nodded and we parted ways as we bid goodbye.
Once I got home, my family and I had dinner and talked for a while. After that, I went up and tried to do my homework. The keyword is tried. Because I really can't calm my mind down. I've been thinking about a lot of things. Especially Logan. And he's in my mind not in a bad way, surprisingly. To be honest, I wasn't sure if he was playing with me or not. But when he started to do these little acts of kindness, I've got to admit, it was sweet of him. It made me realize that, even though I can't believe I'm saying this...
He deserves a second chance. and I'm gonna give him that.
